NEW Maxfactor False Lash Effect Supreme Recharge Mascara : Review + Before / Afters

Maxfactor False Lash Effect Supreme Recharge Mascara review with before after

The Maxfactor False Lash Effect Supreme Recharge mascara – review and before + afters.

We all know by now that Maxfactor do a GREAT mascara. They tend to always be consistently good and I can pick a good few from their extensive mascara range that I love to use – with the humble Masterpiece Max being one of my top 3 mascaras of all time. I swear this mascara has been around for 20 years + now?!

They have just launched a new mascara to the gang which is the Maxfactor False Lash Effect Supreme Recharge mascara. This is their first ever refillable mascara which promises to treat and condition the lashes as well as give volume and length. It costs £15 and £10 for the refill although you can often find it on offer in both Boots and Superdrug where you can grab it for less or in the 3 for 2 deals.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Supreme Recharge promises to instantly build 7x volume on the lashes, with the added benefit of healthier-looking lashes in 4 weeks with its keratin-rich formula. The Supreme Recharge Mascara features a lash-sculpting brush with unique bristles that coat every lash for full impact and great volume.

The refill is a small black insert (pictured below) and has simple instructions on the front and it is easy to do and to follow. Essentially you pluck out the existing insert from the shiny gold outer case and replace it within with your new refill. I think this is a great idea and concept and can see maybe more brands doing this soon – I like to think we are becoming a little more savvy as beauty shoppers when it comes to waste and refillable items, which we are seeing a lot more in skincare at the moment. It also saves you a bit of money when you are loyal to the product as the refills are always a little cheaper. Win and win.

Onto the mascara itself. I really, really like it and have been wearing it pretty much daily for 2 weeks now. It applies nicely, I haven’t had any issues with overloading my lashes, or it going laggy or clumpy. I find the formula very easy to layer and build-up without it looking or feeling heavy. It is quite a nice, typical looking silicone wand which is conical in shape – nothing new or groundbreaking and I have definitely used mascaras before that look like this.

I have found it wears very well on my lashes, as most of the Maxfactor mascaras do and I don’t find it smudges or transfers. That being said, I did get feedback from other people over on my Instagram saying it had smudged one them so take from that what you will. I have to say, I do not find in general that mascaras smudge on me so maybe if you are one of those who get that, then perhaps this won’t work for you, I can only speak from my experience of wearing it multiple times. One day, it did smudge a little on one eye but aside from that it’s been fine – which I found confusing as I had no idea why it did this just the once?! It could have maybe been the other eye products I was wearing that day or maybe I had a weepy eye or something but I have consciously been checking it since and nothing!

As you can see from the before / after images of the Maxfactor False Lash Effect Supreme Recharge Mascara, it really does give a lovely lifted and volumised lash and at the same time a nice fluttery look. I tend to wear around 2-3 layers of this mascara to get this effect. Side note – I also always, ALWAYS curl my lashes and you should too!

In terms of the refill, I am yet to finish it to do the ‘refilling process’ but it looks really easy to do and like I have mentioned, I think the idea of refillable beauty is great. Upon a quick google search, although this is the first refillable mascara I have personally used , there are a few on the market currently including ones from Dior, ZAO, and a few other brands I haven’t really heard off. The concept is great but only if it is a mascara you really love and want to use time and time again – For me, I like to use and try out different mascaras every time I run out of one so I am not sure if it works for me, although I do know there are a handful of mascaras I love that if they were refillable I would refill them – if that makes sense!
