I saw this on various blogs / vlogs a few weeks back and thought the colours looked right up my street…then one landed on my doorstep* and I was a bit goo goo gah gah. This is one of the prettiest-looking (and smelling) makeup palettes I have ever used.
The Too Faced Chocolate Bar contains 16 eyeshadow shades including 2 larger size base colours which is a great idea. How many times do you scoop away at these neutral colours and then have nothing left except a miserable empty well staring back at you amongst half-used other less-loved shades – not with this palette! Also, one ‘base’ colour is matte and the other has a sheen, again, great thinking and consumer-friendly.
The rest of the shades are on the warmer side, which is what I usually wear on myself – lots of golds, rich browns, coppers, and even a beautiful burgundy colour which I think is my favourite. The pigment is really good, not just saying that because THAT’S WHAT BEAUTY BLOGGERS SAY ABOUT EVERY EYESHADOW EVERRRRR….it really is very good, soft and easy to blend and smoke. I would say similar to the quality of Urban Decay, maybe even NARS…and absolutely better than MAC pressed eyeshadows.
There have been lots of comparisons to the UD Naked palette, and price point it is a little more expensive, but fear not you get a touch more eyeshadow (in weight) plus you get more colours to choose from.
Inside the metal tin, you also have a how-to guide which shows you three
different looks for inspiration which is really handy if you always
stick to the same old looks OR if you just aren’t that confident at
application and placement.
Above is a quick basic smokey brown/copper eye I did using the chocolate bar : Shades I am wearing here are White Chocolate (under brow/highlight) , Creme Brulee (all over lid) , Semi Sweet & Triple Fudge (socket) and Cherry Cordial (lower lashline & socket).
I somehow in my excitement missed the main selling point of this palette – the shadows are made 100% natural mineral cocoa powder, which when you give it a sniff…..it smells like CHOCOLATE. Unbelievably brilliant. Like actual chocolate. It’s not overpowering or sickly sweet, you have to get up close to smell it – no added fragrance, just lovely natural mineral powder.
