Asia is a part of the world that’s vast and varied, and packed with interesting things to see and do. If you’re planning a trip eastward, then you might have a myriad of cultures, natural phenomena, and activities to choose from. So, what parts of the continent might appeal, and why?
Vietnam
It’s fair to say that Vietnam is among the most approachable destinations for new travellers in the region, thanks largely to the variety of experiences available in a relatively small space. You might spend some time in Ha Long Bay, marvelling at the limestone islands from the comfort of a kayak. Or, you might trek through the mountainous wilderness that is Sapa. There’s a balance to be struck between immersion in Vietnamese culture, and exploration of the country’s impressive natural wildernesses. Thailand
Thailand is arguably the most popular parts of the continent for those seeking vibrant nightlife. But there’s more to the country than a great club experience. Perhaps the best part of a trip here, however, is the abundance of high-quality street food, which is available in every major city.
Japan
Japan is a nation that famously blends the high-tech with the traditional, in a way that’s earned it huge amounts of cultural clout. Tourists are drawn here from across the globe in search of neon-lit city centres and unique retail opportunities, of the kind that might be found in Tokyo and Kyoto. But it’s arguably the country’s adventurous side that holds the greater appeal. You might travel along volcano-formed hiking routes and cycling trails, and visit the famous temples that are so inseparable from our conception of ancient Japan. The food is fantastic, too. The only real downside worth mentioning is the price. Your money will tend to go further in other parts of the continent, it’s fair to say. Nevertheless, it’s always worth considering a visit to the land of the rising sun, at least once.
Jordan
For the final country we’ll mention, we should travel a little further to the west. Jordan is a country that’s defined by desert, and by ancient mystery. You might head out for an adventure in Wadi Rum, with its ancient landscape, and ancient ruins. If you’re feeling particularly committed, you might immerse yourself fully in Jordanian life by living like a Bedouin for a part of your break. What you really can’t overlook, of course, is the famous ancient city of Petra, and its endlessly fascinating archaeological sites. What might surprise you is the extent to which Jordan’s tourist offering has matured. The services and facilities here are well established, and it’s a great place for those looking to uncover new cultures, and experience new things outdoors.
