Have you got LED mask overwhelm and are struggling to choose which one to buy?!
So many LED masks have hit the market in recent years and it can be confusing and overwhelming when coming to choose the best and the ones that truly work. There is a lot of confusing jargon, glossy advertising and bold claims when it comes to LED devices and quite honestly….I know how you feel! However, I have now been an LED mask convert for over 6 years and it really has changed my skin health and condition and I want to share with you why I favour the CurrentBody Skin LED mask over the rest (and I’ve tried most of them!).

WHY RED LIGHT THERAPY?
Firstly let’s talk about the basics and what LED / red light therapy even does for the skin.
Light therapy has been used for decades to treat and heal the skin. Light therapy was originally developed by NASA for healing wounds in space. in the 1990’s the US Navy Seals began using it and shortly after, aestheticians introduced it into their treatment rooms. LED light therapy is backed by clinical data that is will help skin repair, stimulate collagen, fade age spots, decrease inflammation and smooth the skin.
Top skin clinics have been using LED light therapy for many years now for this reason and the results of light therapy are cumulative, so you need to have treatment frequently and be consistent. This is where LED at-home masks have stepped in : an affordable way to get clinic-like results.
WHY THE CURRENTBODY LED MASK OVER THE OTHERS?
CurrentBody Skin are one of the first brands to bring an LED mask to the UK market and have been making LED masks and accessories for 15 years. In that time they have done a huge amount of testing, advanced their technology, improved their testing and gained feedback from hundreds and thousands of customers.
They are the only LED mask brand to test every single one of their devices that get sold (more on that below!) and they are the global market leader in LED masks and pioneers of the industry. Most brands when launching LED masks, are looking to CurrentBody to see what they have done!

WHAT REALLY MATTERS WHEN CHOOSING A LED RED LIGHT THERAPY MASK?
Don’t be fooled by dubious marketing claims and fancy words, there are 3 things you need to look for in an LED mask – sometimes being the most powerful isn’t as impressive as it may sounds.
3 key things : the COVERAGE, the WAVELENGTH precision and the DOSE of your device.
1. COVERAGE
LED makes will only be effective if the light covers every part of your skin evenly. The coverage needs to be consistent! The fit and shape of the mask is very important and it needs to fit the face well and hit every area without any gaps or weak spots. This is why the liquid silicone design of the CurrentBody mask is great – it moulds to your face shape, is lightweight and sits comfortably.
2. WAVELENGTH PRECISION
Specific and precise wavelengths give the best results. Even a small deviation (5nm) in the light wavelength can affect the results you will get. You want the light to be reaching the exact skin depth to achieve results.
The best clinical wavelengths and what they do :
RED LIGHT (633nm) – this is known to boost collagen production, reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
BLUE LIGHT (415nm) – calms irritation, targets blemishes and clears the skin.
NR INFARED (830nm) – this energises skin cells to firm, tighten and brighten the skin.
DEEP NR INFARED (1072nm) – targets areas where signs of ageing are more visible and boosts collagen production deep under the skin.
3. DOSE
‘Most powerful’ and ‘more red light’ isn’t necessarily better. The dose needs to be exact and correct for optimum results. If you have a mask that is too powerful it can inhibit or even reverse results. This is why you also need to invest in a reputable LED mask brand that has done the testing and follows the science.

So before buying your mask, do check these things to ensure it will be effective. The information, clinical trials and results should all be visible and easy to find on a brand’s website.
3 KEY factors to look at when buying your LED mask : Wavelength , Dose & Precision!

THE PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER LED MASKS AND THEIR CLAIMS.
So many LED masks claim to be ‘clinically proven’ and this may sound reassuring when you are buying one but there is a big issue with this and the accuracy of this clinical testing. Most LED mask brands have only tested a small amount of masks and not every device – how do we know there is accuracy across them all? This is how CurrentBody is difference because they clinically test EVERY SINGLE LED MASK that is sold. This ensures it meets the very high clinical standards and the mask you receive will do exactly what it says and deliver the exact power and dose as stated in the trials.
VERITACE + CURRENTBODY.
CurrentBody go above and beyond when it comes to safety, efficacy and testing. They test EVERY SINGLE BULB in EVERY SINGLE MASK that goes out to the customer.
This information is sent with every single mask, and it is called Veritace. You get a small card that you can scan and it takes you to all of the tests that your mask has been through……and the results! This is honestly so brilliant and no other brand will give you this level of testing or transparency with their LED masks.

Veritace testing : exclusive to CurrentBody no other beauty brand or LED mask does this = Your CurrentBody mask = clinical level results, guaranteed.

CURRENTBODY LED MASK : BEFORE + AFTER.
I have shared my before and after images on here before you can check this post here (CurrentBody Skin Led Red Light Therapy 6 month results) but I thought I would do an updated 2026 picture to compare.
The ‘before’ images were taken around 2022/2023 and the ‘after’ is now, in 2026. Of course there are many factors which have improved my skin health and appearance which I have always openly said : LED masks really do help alongside a decent skincare routine. I look after my skin now, for sure, but I also looked after it pre-2023 with possibly an even fancier skincare routine than I have now. One of the main differences is using LED / red light therapy frequently in my skin routine.
Both images are makeup-free standing in the same spot and un-edited.

Of course, my skin is not perfect : it still has texture and marks but the improvement over the years is brilliant and I’m very pleased with how my skin is looking now. If I could give you some easy skincare advice from a woman in her mid-forties?… cleanse properly every day, add hydration to keep your skin barrier healthy, use your daily SPF and treat with red light therapy. Skincare routines don’t have to be complicated or involve 11 steps! I think my routine is now more refined (and less expensive!) than it was 5 years ago.
