Sunday Skin : BB Cream Favourites.

For when your skin is feeling happy and casual days call for ethereal skin.

BB creams are something I wear almost every day. Not because I have great skin and can get away with such a light wash of coverage, but because I will always use this as a step 1 for my base and from there add foundation/concealer and the rest as needed. I do this because BB creams contain more feel-good skincare than your basic foundation, SPF and they will start to hide the sins so LESS heavy/ pigment-rich foundation will *hopefully* be required.

GOOD FOR COMBINATION / OILY SKINS:

The Urban Decay Naked Skin BB Cream (SPF20) is one I have used and loved for a good few  years (although I think it’s been discontinued – whaaaat?!) and this is a really good smoothing base that is primer-like in reducing the appearance of pores/fine lines. It leaves the skin with a velvet / blurred like appearance and is oil-free. It has a bronze tint to warm up your skin tone to make you look healthy and well rested, but not actually very much coverage so definitely one I tend to wear under foundation. It just gives the skin a seriously flawless finish.

Another beauty balm I have been using for a really long time on my combination skin is the Stila Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Illuminating Beauty Balm (SPF30) which is not only the BB WINNER for the longest name in beauty history but this is THE ONE if you want a fabulous glow on your skin at the same time as a light, even coverage. It is longwear, oil-free and has a multitude of anti-ageing benefits.

DEHYDRATED / DRY SKINS:

For when my skin is feeling dry, I really love the Christian Breton BB Cream which is one of the newer ones I have delved into. It contains skin plumping Hyaluronic acid, Pomegranate extract which is a great anti-oxidant to protect the skin and Allantoin which helps regenerate and enliven the skin. Hyaluronic holds water in your skin which is why it’s great when you are feeling parched.

ANTI-AGEING BIG HITTERS :

If anti-ageing is your focus than take a look at these two ingredient-packed wonders : Filorga BB-Perfect is a an ultra-smoothing and brightening beauty balm that will soothe and conceal your skin flaws to leave you with more youthful and plump looking skin. If you are feeling very flush and fancy then the La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Transforming Cream (SPF30) could be right up your street. Packaged in a glitzy multi-faceted silver bottle, this is really one of the most luxurious BB creams that money can buy. although is doesn’t call itself a BB cream, rather a ‘transfroming cream’: it’s essentially a BB cream as it contains colour pigment, SPF & lots (& lots) of skincare. This counteracts the signs of fatigue in an instant and makes me skin feel revived and fresh. This contains the signature ‘Swiss Ice Crystal Complex’ that helps the skin to adapt to the environment and stress.

THE BEST:

Last up and my actual favourite is the Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation (now called ‘No Makeup Foundation’). I think this could be my 3rd of 4th bottle of this wonder product and it is possibly the best there is! SPF30, a really beautiful second skin finish and the shade Light-Medium (they do 5) is absolutely bang on. It’s just a touch warmer so it instantly gives me a really healthy, dewy glow, *almost* making me look like I’ve had a touch of sun and happiness (!). This is abundant in Vitamin C which helps brighten up the skin and also Alpha Lipoic which is one of nature’s strongest anti-oxidants.

Are you still into your BB creams? What are your favourites?
