The English Mineral Makeup Company.

100% Natural 100% Minerals 100% Cruelty Free 100% Vegan Friendly.
The English Mineral Makeup Company was founded in by mother-daughter duo Jeanette and Grace Burrows who wanted the very best and luxury mineral makeup line that WORKED for both of them ; a younger and more problematic skin and an older and more mature skin. Different skins = Different needs but they yearned for natural makeup that would look flawless, natural and feel amazing on ALL SKINS.

The English Mineral Makeup Company (EMM) has a full line of everything you need for your day-to-day ‘base’ including foundation (x2 formulas ; one with a higher coverage), blush, contour, highlighters, bronzers, primer and setting powders. The quality of their makeup is absolutely premium, using top-grade ingredients.

WHY MINERAL MAKEUP?

It’s simply a more natural form of makeup. Mineral makeup is quite literally made from crushed, natural minerals. True mineral makeup won’t contain any perfumes, dyes, fillers and of course, they are oil-free. Due to these, mineral makeup can be used on sensitive skin, acne-prone skin, injured skin, perioral dermatitis and rosacea. Mineral makeup doesn’t clog the pores which it turn can irritate and cause breakouts. Coverage can be built up from very light to full so it is versatile. Mineral formulas won’t sit in fine lines or feel heavy on the skin, so mature skins also can favour this powder formula. Last up, powder makeup formulas are ‘inert’ therefore bacteria free and this also won’t allow the product to expire.

I have been trying some products from EMM over the last month and wanted to share with you my stand-out products. Not only do I love a light and fresh-feeling base in these balmier conditions, but mineral makeup is working perfectly on my crazy-ass-hormonal-pregnancy skin.

Mirror Mirror is a really clever little powder. Initially, due to it’s colour (it’s a very pale yellow) and the fact it has a pearlescent finish I thought it was simply a highlighter. However this little pot of fun is actually a light reflecting powder that can be used as a concealer and under eye brightener. Think Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder with a twist. I have been using this as an all over setting powder when I want extra brightness and radiance and always to set my under eye concealer. The yellow tone acts a colour corrector and helps neutralise those dark circles. It will also help smooth the under eye area and prevent the dreaded 11am concealer crease.

Another powder that is a lot more than first meets the eye is the Fairy Godmother’ powder. This looks like a translucent setting powder but it is the ultimate mineral makeup multi-tasker. This powder works as an overnight skin treatment to moisture and heal the skin with rosehip, green tea & jojoba, all whilst making it look baby soft and perfect ; my initial thoughts are this is the perfect partner when you want to look *boudoir chic* for your fancy man or women. It also works as a primer and/or setting powder for all your mineral makeup AND because it contains crushed pearl (which actually makes it NON VEGAN FRIENDLY fyi) it can be used as a highlighter or to add radiance to the skin.

Spring summer skin requires a punchy blush and the Bubblegum blush was just screaming my name. HELLO barbie blue-pink chic and I promise you this doesn’t look as scary on as it does in the pot. For a soft, holiday-skin look then the Soft Bronze bronzing powder it giving me Ibiza vibes : it’s the perfect mix of tan hues, golden glow and radiance. I am using this simply as a normal bronzing powder or for the ultimate ethereal skin, then this mixed half and half with the ‘Fairy Godmother’ gives a beautiful all over glow.

The packaging for EMM is really chic and pretty, you can tell a lot of thought goes into the aesthetic and feel of the brand and I like the fact they are are nice handbag friendly 10g size. Most of the powders come with a small sponge applicator-thang but it’s not great for applying the product BUT do not throw this away – it’s also to keep the powder within the pot and to stop it from seeping out of the holes leaving you with a bag and handful of product everytime you go to open it!

I nearly finished this post without mentioning THAT BRUSH. THE BRUSH! That glorious, soft, fluffy Pink Kabuki brush that is wonderfully soft and swirly and designed perfectly to apply all and any mineral makeup and powder products. It is made from soft taklon fibres (non-animal) and bamboo and is now possibly THE prettiest makeup brush that I own.

Aren’t the products clever?! I am now a big fan of this little-known mineral makeup range and can’t wait to add more makeup into my personal stash and kit. I will be doing a more in-depth review of the foundations ASAP with some before and after’s and tips for application. Mineral makeup really is your BFF in the summer months so start looking into it pals!
