I cannot imagine that there is anyone reading this who has not heard of DECIEM brands. If you haven’t, here’s it in a nutshell : DECIEM is a company, a skincare company. Underneath them is a wealth of skincare brands including NIOD, The Ordinary & Hylamide amongst others that are breaking boundaries and stepping into a territory of simple skincare, with proven results , integrity and non of the fuss. when I say ‘non of the fuss’ : I mean NO BULLSHIT = No ridiculous claims of ‘ground breaking technology’ (yawn) or ridiculous claims. This is skincare with humble integrity.
The thing that sets DECIEM brands apart from others is simply the price : they are VERY affordable. Ingredients that were once saved for the clinics, department stores and fancy beauty boutiques are now available for all.
I want to focus on a few of my most-used DECIEM products and 2 are from The Ordinary Skincare. The Ordinary is a range that focuses on clinical technologies and formulas with integrity. I think this is the range that confuses people the most as the names are scientific, and there is multiple serums and potions in the range.
There is a really handy table on The Ordinary website that lays out how you can use the different products, what can be used with what and how to layer the water-based products with oils (namely water based products should be used before any oils). < This makes it a lot easier!
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-pressed Rosehip Seed Oil. I have loved Rosehip Seed Oil since I was recommended it as a great oil for combination, acneaic skin many years ago. It is rich in linoleic acid, linolenic acid & pro vitamin A : helps the signs of ageing, improves skin texture and nourishes the skin. The benefit of using a ‘cold-pressed’ oil is that is doesn’t lose it’s effectiveness and potency during the heating process. I use this either solo in the PM, under my day cream or added into my day cream to give it a boost.
The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% + HA. Matrixyl is a peptide that is commonly used in skincare for it’s anti-ageing properties, namely reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Matrixyl is used in LOTS of fancy skincare ; a few I can name of the top of my head is Kate Somerville, 111 skin & Sarah Chapman. The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% serum is x2 types of Matrixyl that make up 10% and it’s within a hyaluronic acid (that’s what the ‘HA’ is) base which is the delivery. A great anti-ageing, smoothing treatment that I use like a normal serum.
Hylamide Photography Foundation : Slightly confusing as this isn’t actually a foundation as such ; It’s more like a liquid illuminator that just makes your skin look vibrant. It contains silica prisms to minimise the appearance of lines and pores. The golden yellow base reduces redness on the skin. The finish is dewy and glowy so adds radiance to the skin. Oil-free lightweight formula. I use this instead of a primer or mix it in with my foundation.
