Protecting your skin in the City with Antioxidants & SPF.

HAY CITY-LIVING FRIENDS! Have you ever thought about this?! > City dwelling bombards our skin with daily aggressors and chemicals that can trigger signs of premature ageing, fatigue and lacklustre skin.

Pollution is very damaging to the skin and can deplete the skin of Vitamin C which will stop collagen production from being as effective and this in turn ages the skin. Pollution It is the second most skin-damaging aggressor after the sun.

Obviously priority no.1 we need to be protecting the skin with SPF on a day-to-day basis BUT we can also protect our skin from harmful city pollution, smog and smoke by opting for clever and hardworking skincare, rich in antioxidants.

My Protective Daily Routine:

To start the day right then opt for a decent and deep cleanser that will remove dead skin cells and any bacteria that may have gathered overnight. I am currently LOVING the PIXI Glow Mud Cleanser as my AM shower face wash as it contains 5% glycolic to brighten my skin & the mud (a little more refined than what you find in the bottom of a pond) ensure a deep and fresh cleanse.  If you have a combination skin YOU WILL LOVE this as much as me!

Pre-skincare I love a facial spray and have a variety I will use. The Institut Esthederm City Protect Spray is quite simply the best! It envelops the skin in a protective film that defends against pollution, free radicals & environmental aggressors AND strengthens the skin’s own defence. It’s super clever and this is exactly why you will see this in the kits of top makeup artists all over the world.

For the main antioxidant kick I use the Antipodes Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum > this is a supreme organic skin booster that is packed full of goodness and protective ingredients including Boysenberry, Blackcurrant, Kiwi superfruit, Acai Berry &  Vivanza Grape. Antioxidants are basically skin protectants from environmental damage and are key to keeping the skin looking and feeling healthy. Most of nature’s antioxidants are richly-coloured fruits and berries hence why the colour of this serum is a reddish-orange = it’s all natural baby!

As I am combination-oily, the Emma Hardie Protect & Prime SPF30 is perfect as a light moisturiser to wear over the top of the serum. It protects with SPF, contains Mongongo oil, Oat extract and Vitamin E to hydrate, nourish and add anti-ageing benefits AND it has light-diffusing particles to smooth, refine pores and prep the skin for makeup = YAS, yes and yes.

TIP: If you are wearing SPF daily anyway (yay you) then make sure you remove it with a good double cleanse in the PM.

Do you change up you skincare depending on your surroundings? What are you using for anti-pollution?
