Last up in my 4-part series on the Best of Beauty 2017 is *the big one*.
Let’s just get stuck straight in = My 2017 Makeup favourites.. In one gigantic post. It’s picture-heavy & we have a lot to go through…Grab a cuppa.
BASES & CONCEALERS.
Bareminerals BarePro Foundation. One of the newer launches of Bareminerals foundation and it’s possibly the best for me. A liquid formula that is long wear, good for an oilier skin and has a really beautiful coverage.
Dr Perricone No Foundation Makeup. I have been a big cheerleader for this for a many years and have seen re-packaging, new shades, new names, but I’m still loving it and it’s my go-to for day-to-day natural base. Want anti-ageing and dewy makeup in one?.. then this is your fella.
Fenty Pro Filt’r Foundation. Ok so I purchased this when I was super fake-tanned and it’s definitely too dark for me (I got shade #280) but I still am loving it and it gives the most beautiful finish on the skin even if my skin is bad. I am oily/ combo and open-pored and it just seems to smooth everything and stays on really well. Believe the hype! I will be purchasing again soon a a shade OR FIVE lighter. My full review here.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. One of my favourite concealers I have discovered this year and definitely my most used. It’s such a bargain at just £4.
Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Super Natural Concealer. This was a new launch for 2017 and had mixed reviews. I got on with it really well and wear it as my quick, under-the-eye and on marks, redness, everything concealer. It is slightly thicker than most ‘creamy’ concealers so just use a little less than say your NARS.
KIKO Highlight Effect Fluid Concealer. I haven’t ever fallen head over heals with any KIKO base products, I tend to always like their colour more. However this concealer worked really well for me, and is what I use when I need that flash of brightness under my eyes.
BLUSH, BRONZE, POWDERS, HIGHLIGHTERS.
Laura Geller Baked Gellato Swirl Illuminator ‘diamond dust‘. A very new addition to my collection and actually the first products I have tried from the Laura Gellar makeup range but I was pretty blown away by it. I love the packaging, the way it looks and this colour is my dream highlight shade : ethereal pink with lots of payoff!
Benefit Galifornia Blusher. I love my peachy highlighters as they just seem to work the best on my skin, this is one of my most-used of the year and will continue to be so. I got introduced to it at London Fashion Week where we were using it both on the eyes and the cheeks.. it was love at first sight.
Hourglass Ambient Blusher ‘Incandescent Electra’. Still so much love for this blusher, it’s the perfect peachy pinky coral shot through with that ambient Hourglass G-L-O-W.
Too Faced Peach My Cheeks ‘So Peachy’. When I want a cream version of my favourite blush colour….this is the one. It has a mousse-like, velvet texture and it finishes semi-matte on the skin to give a longer wear than most cream blushers. Perfect for days when makeup is minimal and makeup is slapped on with hands and fingers.
Too Faced Peach Blur Finishing Powder. This new addition to my makeup stash has *just* pipped the hourglass Ambient powders to the post in terms of my favourite finishing powder. It creates an illusion of smooth, perfect skin as it has a teeeeeeny little bit of glow (a la Ambient Powders) and that hint of peach brightens up the skin.
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops. Ok still my favourite liquid highlighter although they are quite pricey at £34 a pop, but worth it in my eyes. Multi-use, easy to blend and they give the most gorgeous glow on the skin. If you are after a budget version then the Barry M Liquid Chromes are the best dupes I have tried FYI.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour (bronzer). Such a beautiful and exquisite formula of powder, I love their setting powders as well as the bronzing powders. It’s super fine and flawless looking on the skin, and gives just the right amount of natural glow and bronze. Has just nudged my beloved Laura Mercier Baked Bronzer 03 off the top spot.
EYES & BROWS
Urban Decay HEAT Palette. Absolutely has to go into the 2017 favourites. Possibly one of the most hypes makeup launches of the year and boy does it live up to the hype. I was super skeptical at first, as I am with *any* hyped up makeup (still haven’t purchased any Kylie, HUDA, JS, Morphe bla blaaa) BUT I fell in love with this pretty quickly and still am using it pretty much on a daily basis as I love warm tones on my blue eyes and I think the mix of matte VS shimmer is perfect in this palette.
DHC Liquid Eyeliner. Another product that was in my 2016 makeup favourites and no time of leaving my makeup dresser anytime soon. Simply the best!
Benefit Precisely My Brow – I think I pretty much used this every single day in 2017, along with the Benefit Gimme Brow brow gel. The lead is hard and fine and you can get good hair strokes with it, and the gel adds a little bit of oomph and structure to your brows. No one does brows quite like Benefit!
Kiss My Fairy Ibiza Glitters. These lovely lot contacted me on the gram and sent me some of their lovely glitter pots a few months ago and I have been using them SO MUCH, they are just the prettiest combination of colours and a nice mixture of glitter sizes. My current favourite is probably the ‘Kiss From a Rose’ which is a pretty rose gold mixture.
Stila Heavy Metals ‘Rose Gold Retro’. These are one the *the* best formulas ever bought out for a cream eyeshadow and I’m so ready for the launch of their next round of colours coming soon. They are really shimmery and they look lie you have applied glitter to the lids AND they stay on all day / all night without budging. I’ve not used another eyeshadow like them.
Kevyn Aucoin The Exotique Diamond Eye Gloss. Kevyn were brave with their launch of an eye gloss into the mainstream as it’s a very specialist kind of product and makeup artists everywhere I know are loving it. My favourite shade ‘Cosmic’ has an ethereal hue and specks of blue/pink throughout to give a really interesting 3d finish to eye makeup.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. A mascara that I loved when it first launched, then I got another one and I wasn’t getting along with it at all and gave it a 3 year break…and for some reason it’s working for me again. Maybe I got a dud in between but it stays put all day and gives me perfect fluttery volume.
Blinking Beaute Silk Eyelashes. These false eyelashes are some of the most beautiful to ever grace my lashes. I think my favourite style have to be ‘Coquette‘ which are dramatic, fluttery and super glam. They are made from silk, and have a really natural and soft feel for optimum comfort.
LIPS.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lip Colours. They featured in last year’s round up as this was the first time I had ever tried them and they are still going very strong. Love the shade range and the formula.
Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Lipsticks. These are a clean break away from the matte liquid lip trend and I’m feeling it. Sheer, hydrating formulas with a nice hit of comfortable creamy pigment, with an amazing range of wearable shades. Favourites for me have to be Lilac, Baby and Regal. I have the full 20 swatches + review here if ya fancy.
