New Spring Scent: Herbae par L’Occitane

Herbae par l'occitane eau de parfum

The Herbae par L’Occitane eau de parfum has just launched and it’s such a beautiful fragrance, that is absolutely perfect and complimentary for this time of year. This new fragrance is inspired by the wild grasses that grow in the glamorous heart of Provence.

It’s a green, fresh and floral : reflecting nature and all the great outdoors at this time of year. If you always step outside during these blooming months and notice how gorgeous it smells then this could be the kind of scent you would be interested in. Grassy, woody, a bit of wild rose and herby in my very unprofessional and possibly lacklustre way of describing a fragrance.

TOP NOTES: Ambrette seed, Vert de bergamot essence, pink peppercorn

HEART NOTES: White nettle flower accord, Wild rose accord, Bramble accord, Clary sage essence

BASE NOTES: Wild grass, captive musk, Cashmeran

PS : I just had to look up what an ‘accord’ in fragrance meant and it’s basically when essences are blended together to create a totally new scent. Honestly the complexity of making a fragrance is way above my head, I always thought it was chucking a few essential oils in a bottle and topping it up with a bit of alcohol and voila. Alas, no…it’s actually super complex..from the notes, the combination of notes, the concentration, the sourcing of ingredients and then of course the packaging.

On that note (no pun intended), I really love the bottle for the Herbae par L’Occitane, it’s very clean, unisex and very reflective of the scent inside with the green colouring and the dried ‘grass’ effect wrapped around the bottle. It also feels very heavy and luxurious.

Herbae par l'occitane eau de parfum

This is the kind of scent I love for warmer days : fresh and light and easy to wear. It’s not too overpowering and it’s not too sweet. It’s an Eau de Parfum so it lasts really well on the skin and I don’t feel the need to top it up during the day. The L’Occitane Herbae comes in 100ml (£80), 50ml (£60) and there is also a cute 10ml purse spray which comes in at £20.
