Maybelline Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Makeup Primer : Review!
Another day, another makeup brand launching a glow-boosting makeup product! Today I am chatting about the Maybelline Perfector 4-in-1 glow makeup. This launched about month ago and of course, has had people talking because we seemingly all love that GLOW at the moment!
Glow-boosting makeup, and this type of product we are probably all familiar with now was kick-started by the launch of the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter back in 2018. It’s skincare-makeup hybrid and gives a bit of coverage and colour and of course, that all-important glow to the skin. Brands who now do similar include ELF Cosmetics Halo Glow, Collection, HUDA Glowish, ICONIC London Glow Booster and now the Maybelline Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Makeup.

Review of the Maybelline Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Makeup :
This is almost a supersize version (in terms of packaging) of the Maybelline Age Eraser concealer ! It is a twist up dispenser and then the product comes through a large sponge at the top from which you can apply it from straight to the skin. The first thing I think we are all thinking is the hygiene aspect of using this product over a number of months, it does state that the product is protected with an anti-microbial system and not to wet the applicator but I just cannot see how it can stay clean from continual use?
I have tried and been able to remove and clean my sponge but I do feel like it’s probably not designed to be washed multiple times and it may break up if you over-wash it! I don’t like the thought of continually applying this directly to the face as it will pick up dirt and germs, especially if it’s not washed. My tip for you ; if you don’t want to risk removing and washing it is to simply NOT apply this product straight from the song applicator to the face. Applying it to the back of a clean hand first and form there on with fingertips or your favourite brush / sponge is probably the way to go with this! That’s what I have been doing.
I picked up shade 1.5 Medium Light which is a touch too warm for me at the moment and would be a better shade for me in the summer. They do 7 adjustable shades in total. When it says ‘adjustable’ it means because there is such a light pigment/ coverage in this product that one of the shades will work across various skin tones, giving it a reasonably broad spectrum across less shades.
When applied it feels nice and lightweight. I notice it gives a very light and minimal coverage and more glow than some of the others. I feel with this Maybelline one more than others that I definitely need something else on top to up the coverage a bit and reduce the shine. It’s VERY GLOWY, and I think wearing it just alone may look a little disco ball. With a light foundation over the top it looks lovely and wears well etc. It is also nice applied lightly OVER THE TOP of your foundation just to give a little dew and a radiant finish.

BEFORE + AFTER
Here is the all-important before and after of the Maybelline Instant Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Primer – Bare skin on the left and with the glow primer on the right. As you can see it is very natural-looking and subtle but just gives a tint of glow, a touch of coverage and in my case, a bit of warmth.
Maybelline Instant Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Primer VS ELF Halo Glow, Charlotte Tilbury, HUDA Glowish and Collection Filter Finish.
In terms of comparing it to the other glow boosters on the market, this is probably the most similar in terms of finish and glow to maybe the Collection or even the HUDA glowish. It’s less coverage and more glowy than the ELF Halo glow (one of my favourites, you can see my full review of that HERE!) and is less coverage and a similar glow to the Charlotte tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter (I also have a review of that HERE!).
