Diptyque Fragrances : The Ultimate Guide to the BEST Perfumes!

Hello my pals. I have such a brilliant (imo) fragrance collection so I wanting to do some delving into it, breaking it down into brands and talking about why I love certain brands and scents so much. First up : let’s talk all things Diptyque fragrances : the best ones, the ones I always buy and a little overview of my Diptyque fragrances : a little Diptyque fragrance guide if you will!

About Diptyque :

We all have heard of Diptyque : possibly mainly for their candles, as they have become SO popular over the last 5 years or so (thanks bloggers on Instagram) but I want to tell you a little more about their background and history so you get a bit more insight into what this Paris-born fragrance house is all about.

Diptyque is a contemporary, emblematic, pioneering Parfumerie Maison; a discreet precursor of authentic luxury and the art of living through the senses, where fragrance and art are integral to everything. Diptyque Fragrance:

So stunning, so sophisticated and I truly think there is a scent from their parfum arsenal for everyone. They currently do over 30 fragrances. They come in both eau de toilette (white labels on the bottle) and eau de parfum (black labels). EDP are obviously stronger, with a higher concentrate of oils. Diptyque also do many fragrance ‘add-on’s’ such as solid perfume, roll-on’s and hair perfume.

Diptyque Philosykos Fragrance

Philosykos is an ode to the fig tree and whisks you away on the memory of a Greek summer.

Definitely the most famous of all the Diptyque fragrances. This was the first one I smelt too as my housemate had it when lived in Bath back in 2005-ish. She said it was one of her favourites and that it smelt a bit like ‘barbies’ which I will never forget! It was definitely different to any fragrances I had smelt and I still think it’s a pretty special scent, although I can’t quite align it to Barbies. This is all about figs : it’s fresh, it’s unisex, it’s quite summery and it gives me holiday vibes.

Notes of fig leaves, tree sap and wood, black pepper.

‘This fragrance encapsulates the sun-soaked wild fig groves of Greece; the green freshness of the leaves mingles with the milky flavour of the fruit, all underpinned by woody density of the tree beneath. Transport yourself to sunbathing by the glittering sea at Mount Pelion..’ .I’ll take three.

Diptyque Do son Fragrance

Do Son captures the intoxicating scent of the rare tubéreuse flower for an exotic olfactory experience.

Actually one of my all-time favourites scents from Diptyque. For me, this is warm, it’s sensual, it’s pretty and it’s Ibiza daytime in a fancy restaurant, on a balcony sat next to a gorgeous bush of aromatic flowers. It has a tropical feel to it.

Notes of tuberose, orange blossom, jasmine, amber wood.

‘Inspired by the summers Yves Couslant, a Diptyque founder, spent in Along Bay and the heady, spicy scent of tuberoses carried on the sea breeze. Bringing to mind the contrast of white flowers against a wooden pagoda, this perfume is a sensual delight.’

This is a woody floral and possibly the only ‘sweet’ fragrance I like. It’s stunning and it’s so recognisable to me.

Diptyque Eau Des Sens Fragrance

A delightfully confusing composition, Diptyque’s invigorating Eau des Sens eau de toilette makes the mouth water like an indulgent treat.

For me, this is fresh, uplifting and a really lovely unisex daytime scent. I love orange blossom so much and this smells juicy and delicious! It’s a ‘newer’ Diptyque fragrance, launching in the last 6/7 years and it’s one I wear a lot.

Notes of orange blossom, Angelica root, patchouli, juniper berry

‘This fragrance is inspired by the multi-faceted bitter orange tree, bringing together all of its dimensions from branches to leaves to fruit. Bright and zesty, with fresh, spicy notes, this fruity perfume is an olfactory puzzle waiting to be deciphered.’

Diptyque Tam Dao Fragrance

Rich and velvety, Diptyque’s Tam Dao eau de toilette is inspired by the holy forests of Indochina. I think this is one of the real Diptyque OG’s alongside Philosykos and L’Ombre Dans L’Eau.

Notes of sandalwood, cypress, cedar and myrtle

This fragrance is inspired founder Yves Coueslant’s memories of the milky scent of sandalwood burning in temples. Made with rare extracts from sandalwood trees over 60 years old, Tam Dao is enhanced by the vibrant scent of cypress, myrtle and cedar.

Diptyque 34 Boulevard Fragrance

Diptyque’s 34 Boulevard Saint Germain eau de toilette captures the unique herbal scent of the brand’s iconic Parisian store.

I remember when this gorgeous fragrance launched and it was an instant hit. I think this is one of the most exquisite and interesting scents. Emulating their iconic Parisian store and a mega blend of intoxicating scents from the wooden floors, to the leather seats and the concoction of everything going on. What an incredible idea and a fabulous fragrance resulting.

Notes of damp moss, blackcurrant leaves, sun-dried fig leaves Amber, patchouli, rose, cinnamon

‘This sophisticated blend of fresh, green and spicy accords is evocative of damp mosses, crumpled blackcurrant leaves and sun-dried fig leaves. An olfactory treat, this complex and innovative fragrance can be worn by men and women alike.’

Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau Fragrance

Conjuring scenes of summer, Diptyque’s L’Ombre Dans L’Eau eau de toilette is romance in a bottle.

If you like the infamous Diptyque Baies candle….this could be the Diptyque fragrance for you. Similar notes and a similar fresh and floral vibe shot through with blackcurrant.

Notes of rose, blackcurrant buds and leaves, petitgrain

‘This fragrance combines the floral intensity of roses with the herbaceous, acidulated accents of blackcurrant leaves and buds. Translating to “The Shadow in the Water”, it tells the story of a midsummer slumber beneath the boughs of a riverside willow tree – offering a moment to savour.’

Diptyque Eau Duelle Fragrance

Diptyque’s Eau Duelle Eau de Parfum is an intense fragrance that will transport you away to lands far away.

I think this is such an interesting Diptyque fragrance and to me, it’s the most ‘un-Diptyque’ and it really surprised me. Again, this is a relative ‘new’ one and I say that a long-term Diptyque buyer and wearer….it’s still maybe 8 years old now! I love the back-story to it, and I feel like sometimes when you hear about the inspiration behind a fragrance, it can really attach to you and draw you to it. This is what happened with the Eau Duelle and me!

Notes of Vanilla, Pink Peppercorn, Incense and Cypriol

‘This rich fragrance is an ode to travel and vanilla – along the route, you will travel through time and over borders with the Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar revealing itself between darkness and light. Cutting through the rich creaminess are notes of spicy pink peppercorn, smoky cypriol and heady incense which create a luminous and addictive fragrance, perfect as a daytime signature.’

Diptyque Volutes Fragrance

An intoxicating blend of sweetness and spice, Diptyque’s Volutes Eau de Parfum is an intense and heady fragrance that can be enjoyed by both men and women.

The ultimate unisex fragrance from Diptyque. I love this and it’s so moody and rich and interesting. It takes you on a proper fragrance journey…so many notes hit you that you feel familiar with. It’s warming, it’s sexy, it’s woody and it’s spicy.

Notes of Cinnamon, Opoponax, Honey and Iris : Reminiscent of Egyptian Khedive cigarettes, on board a 1930s ocean liner

‘This rich fragrance will transport you to the upper deck of an ocean liner, surrounded by elegant women with the Egyptian Khedive cigarettes in hand – a childhood memory preserved by Yves Coueslant. Opening with sweet and hypnotising notes of iris and honey, the scent develops into a deep spicier and smokier blend with notes of cinnamon, opoponax and tobacco.’

Diptyque Eau Rose

Eau Rose is the French maison’s take on a classic perfume ingredient – equal parts fresh, sweet and rich. This is actually one of my favourite scents from them (I have the original larger bottle which has now been changed to the classic btw!)

I find this to be the juiciest and freshest rose fragrance on them all – it’s almost mouth-watering with the notes of lychee blended through. It’s fresh and sweet but in a really modern way…not an old school ‘green’ rose fragrance, it’s so very different.

Notes of Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Lychee, Damask Rose, Centifolia Rose, Musk, Cedar, Honey

Why is Diptyque Expensive?

Diptyque is a luxury fragrance house and brand. It always has been a more high end price point but the quality absolutely delivers and reflects the price point. I have had many of their candles, perfumes and accessories over the years and I’ve never been disappointed. The quality of their ingredients is always the best, and the concentration of the fragrance oils is high, hence why the quality is good and the candles are so infamous. The packing it of great quality too…it’s special, it’s a joy to have and own and use.

Is Diptyque a good brand?

I think it’s a great brand, as I’m sure you can imagine. I purchased my first Dityque candle back in 2009 and have been a customer since. I’ve built up a huge fragrance collection and I own a load of their candles too. I will talk about those on a separate post but I love the Ambre candle and the Rose.

What is the most popular Diptyque?

In terms of Diptyque fragrance, I still believe it to be the Philosykos fragrance. Candles…the best-sellers are Fig, Baies and possibly Rose. These are the ones to probable opt for if you are buying a gift for someone!
