Too Faced is just doing great things to my life right now and I am super impressed by the new-ish ‘Born This Way’ foundation. I’ve only ever really tried the colour from the brand which mainly, I have really liked. Because of this I’ve never thought of it as a strong foundation brand as the bases/concealers haven’t had as much hype as say the bronzers or the melted lipsticks.
The Born This Way foundation is an excellent base, and is suitable for those combination through to dry, including acne-prone skins. Sensitive skins will enjoy it also as it is fragrance free & oil-free. Very oily skins CAN wear this foundation but bear in mind you will probably see it getting a little shiny in areas as it wears throughout the day. It is oil-free but is still really hydrating…Touch-ups and blotting will be required. The Too Faced Primed & Poreless powder is really good for a light and smooth HD-like finish on the skin. In the photos below I have no powder on to show the true finish.
This foundation promises a medium-full coverage, leaves a nice subtle glow on the skin without it being overly dewy. The wear is very good on my skin (combination) as it contains no oil which can often cause a foundation to break up and wear off in patches when applied to my skin, not in this case. I get a good 5-7 hour wear before I need to blot or re-conceal. The creamy formula is quite forgiving to my pores and fine lines and I find it easy to build it up to gain a decent coverage. I don’t like a maskey-uber-perfect look on my face so I tend to just dab foundation onto the areas that need it and blend it out so it is skin-like rather than make-up like. As always, I like a buffing brush to apply foundation and the Crownbrush C472 brush.
In the below pictures I have no concealer, just the Born This Way foundation, so you can see what a great coverage that can be achieved where needed. I haven’t got awful skin at the moment but bits of redness and a few blemishes and this foundation covers it really quickly.
Ingredients include hyaluronic acid, coconut water & alpine rose leaf which give this foundation the added moisture-boosting capabilities and a touch of skincare infused with the makeup pigment. By no means is this going to replace your skincare but it’s kind of nice to have a touch of anti-ageing/brightening stuffs within your makeup, even if in small amounts.
The packaging is really nice and high-end which reflects the price (£28); it is a a matte glass bottle with a pump with a sleek gold trim around the top. I really like the way it looks…some of the Too Faced makeup can be too girly for me but this looks really luxurious and feels expensive. The Born This Way foundation has 18 shades to choose from and I am currently wearing ‘Warm Beige’ which is a warm shade with neutral/golden tones.
This is the first foundation I have tried from Too Faced and I am really impressed with it, it’s straight into my top 5 pile and I urge anyone with a combination-normal skin to give this one a try. I think it’s comparable to Hourglass ‘Veil’, but for a fraction of the price.
