It’s been tricky working out what makeup is suiting my new pastel pink hair. As you may know if you have ever changed your hair colour, it can really change the products that you can wear on your face and I was quite surprised at how I couldn’t wear ALL of the lip colours like I had been when I was brown/blonde.
I’ve finally worked out that a red lips work pretty well with this hair colour so this is a look that I have been wearing LOADS over the past few weeks. It’s a classic look and an easy one to accomplish, just get the right red lip tone that works for you.
I have ALL the NARS velvet matte pencils in my kit and a good handful I wear for myself and they are some of my favourite lip colours. I had kind of forgotten about my beloved Dragon Girl in recent times, but I picked up a new one shopping last week and I have worn it every day since! Obsessed. It’s the most perfect red ever and it suits pretty much everyone I try it on. I have been teaming it up with a slightly deeper red lipliner from By Terry to give it a slight ombre-lip but nothing too drastic.
I always think it’s nice to have a really simple eye makeup when wearing a red lip, it’s quite a classic 40’s/50’s look with just a nice clean lid and a feline flick with lashes. It’s one of those makeup looks that looks like a lot of effort has gone into it, but really this takes minutes to achieve & only a handful of products.
Fluttery, sultry lashes always look great with a red lip, and I like a bit of help with falsies, my go-to at the moment and some of the best I have tried are the wonderful House of Glamdolls #3 . They give a beautiful, glam & fluttery lash which don’t look overly ‘fake’ or thick like some of the ones I am seeing at the moment. Better still, these are the same price as Eylure but, in my opinion WAY better. They also have an invisible band so you don’t need to be an expert to get these looking good.
