I was away on holiday last month so I missed out my Birchbox unboxing on here, so let’s skip forward merrily to this month’s, November Birchbox, as to be honest, it’s better….and I’m really enjoying trying some of these samples and full-size products in the box’s offerings. This month is a collaboration with fashion magazine Tatler so instantly when I saw this branding on the box I was expected it to be a good ‘un. It’s a seasonal party-style box themed with ‘Shake Your Tail Feather’ to keep makeup locked tight, touch-ups with ease and the party skin soothed and treated…
Here’s a look into this month’s Birchbox offerings:
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Primer (mini 2.5ml)
I wasn’t overly excited by this simply because I don’t need another layer of primer in my already huge makeup routine, plus I don’t have a problem with lipstick/s staying on. HOWEVER, I am yet to try this so I may be eating my words (not my lipstick) very soon…
Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse (15ml travel size)
This is a antioxidant face cream and a Parisian favourite that will salvage those post-party skincare blues. Restores tired skin, boosts antioxidant levels and gives a great burst of hydration. I have tried this before (I love Nuxe!) and this generous travel size is perfect for my weekends away.
Darphin Rose Aromatic Care Face Oil (4ml travel size)
I love a good, nourishing oil in the winter and Darphin really know their things when it comes to all things facial oils ; one of the main brands that I remember always having them in your routine way before it became as trendy as it is now! This is the rose face oil, which is soothing, softening and leaves your skin radiant and glowing ; it’s supposed to be used in the PM (as all Darphin oils – that’s their signature routine) but there would be no harm to add some of this into your day cream to give it a boost. Although only 4ml, this will last a good 2 weeks of use.
Wet Brush (midi-size)
I already have 2 of these amazing hair brushes! (& not from a Birchbox FYI) They are GREAT and the size of this is perfect for handbag/travel so although I have this already brush, I don’t have this smaller size so I’m still really happy with this. If you don’t know ; Wet Brush is a fabulous taming and de-tangling hairbrush, and can comb through the most thick and unruly hair types. I think a better version of the Tangle Teeze.
High Defintion (HD) Brow Pencil (full-size)
I think this is this month’s Birchbox highlight for me, as I do love a brow pencil anyway and have been wanting to try this for ages….also it’s actually in the right shade for me HOO-RAH. Full-sized and worth £18 so you get all your money’s worth for this month’s subscription cost in this product right here. I also like the fact this pencil has a small sharpener in the lid to keep the tip precise and perfect for neat brows.
With subscription boxes, of any type, it’s a great way to get a suprise monthly package of discovery, samples, trial sizes and sometimes even full-sizes of products. You always save money (& often quite a huge chunk!) with Birchbox, but obviously as you don’t know what products are included it can sometimes be hit & miss ; certain brands collaborate so you will sometimes see similar or repeat products if you have been a longterm subscriber. I know off the top of my head that Caudalie & Nuxe feature a lot, I’m thinking maybe 1/3 boxes? Which is ok with me as I really like these skincare brands but if I didn’t like then I would be a little irked.
One thing I really love about Birchbox and their website ; it’s all about Discover -> Try -> Buy AKA it starts off with the monthly beauty box and anything you love, you can hop straight onto the website and purchase the full-size.
Birchbox subscriptions cost just £10 per month & £2.95 P&P so it is the most purse-friendly and best value for money beauty boxes on the market. For the price of a few gingerbread lattes a month you can get beauty discovery, pampering and introduced to some of your future favourite beauty products. Pssss you often get a full-size beauty product for signing up & it’s currently a Blinc mascara.
