Michelle Visage Inspired Makeup.

I hate to admit it, but I am CBB obsessed. I was infatuated with the series that’s just finished and I literally watched EVERY episode. I cannot get enough of celebrity’s fighting, bitching and brawling and I find it hilarious, baffling/compelling viewing and alongside gawping at Perez’s hip-grinding antics and Calum’s just being, I was keeping my beady eyes on Michelle Visage’s makeup.

Drag makeup has always fascinated me and I absolutely love the art, the creativity and the skill that goes into it ; the change in facial shapes and looks you can get just from the art of makeup application is really incredible, and is part of the reason I even got into makeup. Michelle Visage is all about the drag makeup, she doesn’t wear it full-on but it’s certainly drag-inspired and she knows how to throw some makeup about! I created a quick & fun makeup look that was inspired by Visage, I hope you like the mini transformation:

Foundation/ Base Must be full-coverage and utterly fabulously flawless! I used my Kevyn Aucoin SSE’s in 2 shades.  Contour and highlight is obviously important…you can really go a bit OTT with this and change up the shape of the face. I think contouring has become something that is MASSIVELY overused nowadays….too many Instagram ‘makeup artists’ doing some seriously heavy makeup and normalising to younger girls. I never use this technique unless….I’m doing drag type makeup really. I just think it’s unnecessary for a day to day look : Ain’t nobody got time for dat. For a heavy contour like this I just use a dark foundation, here I used a couple of my Bobbi Brown foundation sticks and and applied them in key areas as you can see in the photo at the top.

Eyes I think should be the focal point. I haven’t blocked my brows or anything as was not going extreme, but this is a common technique used by drag queens to give a bigger area to create a dramatic eye look. I just enhanced my brows, did an exaggerated double feline flick and a basic VERY heavy ‘glamour eye’. A bit of a cut-crease, lots of blending and socket contouring and then of course, a nice dollop of glitter! (Ben Nye glitter glue is a must) Falsies are an absolute must, and here I wore x 3 pairs on top and individuals on the bottom. Stack em’ high, lay them thick.

Lips A bit overdrawn and a nice bit of gloss ;  I used the MAC lipliner in ‘Shock Value’ to overdraw my lip line and then used a Kevyn Aucoin lipgloss with a touch of MAC pigment in ‘Vanilla’ in the middle to give it that 3D, uber glossy finish. The bigger and juicer, the better.
