Moschino Toy 2 Bubblegum Perfume : Review.

Moschino Toy 2 bubblegum review

The Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum fragrance launched earlier this year and I’m here to talk you through this unusual scent and why you may need it on your fragrance shelfie immediately.

Quirky, vibrant and loved by many A-list celebs such as, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Rita Ora, Moschino is an International luxury label. Exhibiting contemporary, youthful designs across the whole Moschino portfolio, Jeremy Scott the Creative Director re -interprets the identity and the essence of Franco Moschino’s original brand DNA. The first ever Moschino fragrance was introduced in 1987 and since then there have been many iconic fragrances including the latest Moschino Toy2 and Moschino Toy Boy.

Moschino Toy2 Bubblegum launched in early 2021 and is a fragrance for women by Moschino. It is encased in the iconic shape of a teddy bear but this time with a transparent glass body and a cap offering a hint of perfectly pink elegance. Bubblegum, barbie pink = I’M LISTENING.

It is described as a Floral Fruity fragrance and the nose behind it is the incredible Olivier Pescheux. Top notes are Candied Fruits, Bitter Orange and Lemon; middle notes are Bubble Gum, Bulgarian Rose, Blueberry, Peach, Cinnamon, Ginger and Peach Blossom; base notes are Ambroxan, Musk and Cedar.

Moschino Toy 2 bubblegum review

“Fun, outgoing and playful notes explore the nuances of her majesty the rose, creating a delicate scent of bubble gum, from which the fragrance takes its name, and relieves the spirit of negative thoughts whilst enveloping the body and stimulating the mind. Candied citrus fruits, Italian lemon essence and orange essence combine with a bubblegum accord at the top before giving way to a heart of cinnamon, blackcurrant, ginger, Bulgarian rose essence, peach flowers and vine peach. A dry-down of cedarwood essence, ambrofix and a musk cocktail rounds out this Floral-Fruity-Oriental eau de toilette that is suitable for vegans.”

Honestly, I was ready to really not like this fragrance. I’m NOT a typical fruity floral kinda gal and the thought of Bubblegum made me feel apprehensive and bordering on *eye-rolly*.

HOWEVER. I like it. I almost love it : It’s fun and playful as expected. It’s not sickly sweet, and the addition of musk and cedarwood seems to add a nice balance to the scent. It’s unusual and unexpected. Of course I LOVE the O.T.T bottle design (thanks Jeremy Scott) and the bubblegum pink not only make it eye-catching and quirky, but it’s a total keepsake perfume and collector’s item. It makes me smile and it’s a great addition to me ever-expading fragrance collection. I actually have nothing like this and I don’t think you will either.

The only thing I have and instantly thing of is the L’Artisan Dzing! Perfume (do they still do that?!) which is an evocation of a trip to the circus : leathery, grassy and…….popcorn! It was a super interesting scent but yes, this is the only one I can think of that has any similarities for me as I do not usually opt for these sweeter, gourmand perfumes.

I thought it would be too ‘young’ for me but I am totally enjoying wearing this in the day and would actually wear this in the evening too. It’s (and don’t worry I AM internally and externally cringing at using this word but…) SCRUMMY.

It is fruity, it IS sweet : two things I don’t tend to like but I cannot put my finger on why this works. It’s delicious and it is almost edible. Try it, if you like your fruity florals you should love it by default…if you aren’t a classic fan of the fruity florals then you may love it anyway, like me.

Available to buy from The Perfume Shop in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes, starting from a reasonable £39.
