Summer Skin Moisturisers : My Ultimate Lightweight Hydration Picks.

Our skin changes seasonally and in the summer, it will produce more oil as a reaction to the environment and heat….clever huh?! . In light of this, I always switch up my skincare in the summer, and ditch the rich balms, heavy oils and more often than not opt for a lightweight fluid or gel for my daytime hydration. I think it also feels so much nicer & fresher to have a lighter base in terms of both makeup and skincare as with the heat, that makeup can slide off pretty rapidly too.

Here are some of my go-to’s for summer skin hydration, including L’Occitane, Caudalie, Chantecaille, Gatineau & Jurlique. If you haven’t already then it may be worth looking into switching up your Face cream and moisturiser to keep your skin feeling fresh, looking clear and still doing ‘it’s job’.

NOTE: Always (summer + winter) wear some SPF on your face ; if it’s not incorporated within your face cream, then get it on over/under via other means. SPF 30 +++ should be standard.

The Caudalie Moisturising Mattifying Fluid* is a kit n’ client favourite as this wonderful,  gel-like moisturiser seems to suit ALL skin types and I ditch the primer when I use this as it leaves the skin with a fresh semi-matte finish. This tends to be my holiday option too as it’s a lightweight 40ml tube. If you are feeling slightly fancy-pants then the Chantecaille Bio Lifting Oil Free Fluid+ One of the most extravagant moisturisers I have in my collection but it is absolutely A.M.A.Z.I.N.G and there aren’t *that* many fluids/oil-free formulas that also have ridiculous anti-ageing and firming benefits like this botanical powerhouse. It is hands-down the best oil-free moisturiser I have ever used but the £232 price tag makes it a very special treat once in a while.

The unsung hero ; L’Occitane Perfecting Mattifying Fluid. A cooling fluid for oily-combo skin types that contains Peony extract & Mediterranean lemon so it smells *obvi* like heaven AND it leaves the skin feeling fresh, clean & energised. I also love the pump-tube packaging for ease and hygiene.

Now onto my favourite gels in a tub starting with the Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Revitalising Gel Lotion. I have a special place in my heart for the Jurlique Rose range (and *that* rosewater spray) and this water-like gel emulsion is my go-to from the brand. It’s super cooling, refreshing, calming and also protects against environmental aggressors. The newest to my collection is the Gatineau Aquamemory Moisture-replenish Gel* and this is a little different to the rest of my picks as this is tailored towards a more dry and or dehydrated skin type ; but for those who don’t want a rich, oil-based balm. This is the ultimate quencher for dehydrated skins so take note ; an oilier skin can definitely enjoy this gel-cream too.

Do you switch up your skincare by the season? What are your current go-to’s in terms of day creams and moisturisers?
