The Liz Earle Probiotic range is ultra-gentle and is suitable for the most sensitive of skins. If you find this time of year your skin gets a little sore, red, peely and just a little angry with the colder weather then this range is like a soothing blanket to ease those skin woes! They have also introduced their first new cleanser since 1995 in this range which is pretty MAJOR.
The range features a streamlined line-up with just a Probiotic Balancing Milk Cleanser, a Probiotic day cream and a probiotic night cream. It harnesses a blend of pre, pro and postbiotics and other actives so strengthen the skin barrier, nourish, calm and really get your skin back on track.
PROBIOTICS EXPLAINED.
Quite a few brands (and some of my favourites!) use probiotic technology at the heart of their ingredient DNA. It may be something you know more when talking about gut health, but probiotics work effectively in skincare and are scientifically proven to keep your skin’s friendly bacteria balanced. If you skin is balanced it functions and works more effectively = healthier skin!
YOUR SKIN MICROBIOME:
The skin microbiome is the unique ecosystem of microflora that live and thrive on your skin. Just like in your gut, this balance of this microflora can have an effect on your skin’s health and it helps support your skin’s natural protective moisture barrier.
Lifestyle factors such as stress, lack of sleep and environmental pollutants can disrupt your balance of microflora and your skin’s protective barrier can be compromised, causing skin problems such as sensitivity, dryness, excess oil and blemishes.
The Pro-Biotic range from Liz Earle is ALL about balance and getting your skin to be at it’s best health : working well and looking gorgeous!
This is, in the nicest possible way, quite a ‘simple’ skincare line ; it’s soothing, it’s anti-inflammatory, it’s calming and it’s nourishing. I think this is reflected in the no-nonsense packaging and formula. There’s no promises to make you look younger, reduce lines or do ‘X,Y,Z’ for anti-ageing : this is a soothing and balancing range. It’s simple, it’s nice, it’s going to work for you if this is what you are looking for.
Pro-Biotic Balancing Milk Cleanser.
I think this could be my favourite product from the range! It’s so lovely to use and I’m not usually a fan of milk cleansers. This Protects and strengthens skin’s moisture barrier for visibly healthier-looking skin. This ultra-gentle, milky cleanser effectively cleanses without stripping and leaves skin feeling calmer, clearer and healthier.
This creamy cleanser melts away impurities, SPF, pollution and make up while strengthening skin’s moisture barrier for a nourished, soothed, healthy-looking glow. It also contains chicory, lunaria oil, jojoba oil and oat extract. I like it as a gentle and refreshing AM cleanse or as step 1 of a double cleanse in the pm.
100ml in size. normal price is £18 but currently just £12.60 HERE.
Pro-Biotic Balancing Day Cream.
This is a really gentle and nourishing day cream. It is light in texture but leaves skin feeling comfortable and hydrated. It is a fragrance-free formula strengthens and protects skin’s moisture barrier while rebalancing the appearance of oily and dry areas.
I find the day cream pleasant, light and it’s just one of those ‘easy’ day creams : that will kind of just work with anything. I always layer it over a serum as my skin needs a little hot of anti-ageing under a day cream and it marries well with other brands. I also really love it with the Liz Earle Superskin Alt-Retinol Booster layered underneath to give me that anti-ageing hit that I need! It sits nicely under makeup and is just inoffensive.
The one thing you will notice with this (and the night cream) is the scent….it does smell of oats and it can be a little over-powering on your first application! For me, it’s not offensive plus it dissipates once applied onto the face. But don’t expect aromatic notes of joy ok.
This is usually priced at £32 (50ml) but you can grab it for just £22.40 RIGHT HERE for a limited time.
Pro-Biotic Balancing Night Cream.
This has a slightly thicker and richer texture than the day cream and is perfect for that night-time coccoon our skin needs! It nurtures stressed-feeling skin while you sleep, leaving even the most dry, sensitive and reactive-feeling skin looking radiant and renewed by morning. It also contains ingredients including chicory, lunaria oil, jojoba oil and oat extract alongside the hard-working pre and post biotics.
I like to layer this over the Liz Earle Superskin Nourishing Concentrate in the PM as I feel like my skin need a little more but you can apply it just solo – see how your skin feels!
The night cream is usually priced at £32 but you can grab it for £22.40 RIGHT HERE (for a limited time).
MY THOUGHTS ON THE LIZ EARLE PRO-BIOTIC RANGE AND HOW I USE IT:
So above we’ve chatted about probiotics, key ingredients and the 3 products and what they will do, but I just want to talk a little bit more about the nitty gritty….the packaging, how it feels on the skin, what I like about it and how I am using it in my current skincare routine.
The packaging is simple, understated and just….functional. Nothing that will jump out at you on a shelf but I don’t think it’s supposed to. No brash, bold and wild claims : it’s just an easy skincare line that does the job at hand. These are the types of products that can quite literally slip into anyone’s skincare regime whether you use 12-steps or 2 : it’s EASY. For me, I am obviously quite into my skincare and have a pretty intricate line-up of what I like and use. One cleanser, one day cream and night cream is not going to suffice so I plump it out with my usual acids, eye creams, SPF, serums and everything else in between. This is the kind of range I reach for when my skin is just a little needy and just needs hydration and calm.
This entire range is fragrance-free AND it contains no ‘natural’ fragrance to mask the natural scent which a lot of brands opt for. The smell is not incredible and I do know some people love to have a nice-smelling product. The scent is natural and I think it’s the oats that you can smell. However on application there is no scent and you cannot smell anything.
Lastly, the Liz Earle Probiotic skincare range is affordable, even MORE so with the 30% off! In terms of the Liz Earle skincare products it’s pretty entry level in terms of price. I think my favourite product from the range is actually the cleanser….It’s so very gentle and kind on the skin, and I like so very few milk cleansers I have tried over the years.
Do let me know if you have any questions on the range and click RIGHT HERE to shop the range for 30% off! This offer is only on for another week.
