Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette : 4 Looks + Swatches

Yes this is coming a little late to the game but YES I wanted to use the colours and wear lots of combinations and looks before fully reviewing it. The Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette is currently their newest eyeshadow palette and we KNOW the hype surrounding these. (PS have you SEEN their next collection and *that* Cherry Palette that is coming out soon?!…..swoon)…

This palette consists of 21 shades, with the finishes ranging from creamy mattes, metallics and shimmers. Let’s dive straight in with the swatches:

The shade combination is mainly neutrals and warms BUT with some amazing pinks, fushias and flashes of colours within. It’s meant to be suitable for a huge array of looks, for, your all-seeing, all-doing and all-occasion palette. All my 4 looks are created using the Born To Run eyeshadow palette and a couple of the Urban Decay 24-7 Glide On eyeliners to enhance the shadow shades in the green and pink looks.

The quality of the shadows is typical Urban Decay AKA very good, blend-able, creamy and easy to apply. All shades can be used both wet and dry. The only 2 I struggled with a little is the Still Shot and Hell Ride which are both pink/purple based and matte which is possibly the reason ; It’s renowned for being a tricky pigment to get right in a matte powder formula.

The packaging is hard plastic and opens and closes with a magnet. It feels really secure. I like the fact that it is lightweight and really slimline and portable. I much prefer this packaging to the HEAT as this is heavier, bulkier and more prone to cracking if dropped. It has snapshots of holiday destinations all over the world on both the front and back ; and it’s fun, quirky and pretty to look at. I hope they bring more out in this format.

The Urban Decay Born To Run Palette costs £39.50. The individual eyeshadows are 0.80g in weight so a total of 16.8g. Comparable to let’s say the HEAT palette which has a total of 15.6g of shadow, therefore  the Born To Run is slightly better value for your buck.

Nakey Bye-Bye. I’m really excited with the recent Urban /decay launches and the direction which they seem to be going. I know there has been a bit of an uproar about the Naked palette being discontinued but I do get it from a business side of view ; it’s a really old palette, most of the UD fan-base have this palette twice over and from a business point of view it’s good to inject the brand with freshness and counter space for the new and bigger launches. Naked fans stock up! Keep an unused one in your makeup museum along with your MAC limited edition lipsticks.

What are your thoughts on the Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette? If you are a makeup junkie you may have lots of these shades already but I like the fact that it has such a versatile and well-edited range of shades in one compact.
