odacite retinol and hyaluronic acid serum review

Odacite Retinol + Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

Hello two of my favourite skincare ingredients! Say hello to the wonderful Odacite Retinol + Hyaluronic Acid Serum. I use both of these ingredients a fair amount in my routine and they REALLY work for me. I love the fact that they are combined in this one serum and I was super excited to try it. First up, let’s have have a quick overview about what both of these key ingredients do:

Retinol is a multi-correctional Clinical Active that helps increase skin cell renewal, smooth skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and rid the skin of imperfections.

Hyaluronic Acid holds up to 1,000 times its own weight in water and locks in moisture, visibly hydrating and plumping the skin.

Honestly two powerhouse ingredients and absolute staples in my routine! Odacite is what I would say os a more niche skincare brand so I also wanted to introduce you to them as a whole in case they are completely new to you.

Odacite Retinol + Hyaluronic Acid Serum Review.

I have been using this for around 4-5 weeks now and actually, as I am writing this I am nearing the end. I have been using it around 5 nights a week and I am definitely seeing results from it. I think it’s a great retinol treatment. I have used lots of different retinoids over the years so my skin *is* used to it and this one was definitely effective.

This is described as a youth-restoring Retinol Serum expertly formulated with Advanced Encapsulation Technology to visibly minimize signs of aging & blemishes. Paired with Hyaluronic Acid to deliver maximum benefits, while minimising any risk of irritation. It has been formulated for ALL SKIN TYPES, especially those that are seeing signs of ageing and blemishes.

This serum will target fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, uneven skin texture, congested pores and loss of firmness.

I do feel a slight warming sensation when I use the Odacite Retinol + Hyaluronic Acid serum. For me, this is a sign that it’s active and actually doing something. This is completely normal so do not worry if this happens to you. I’ve NOT experienced any other side effects from using it such as redness or peeling, which can be common when using retinol. I think you just have to gauge how your skin is and how it reacts – and that will influence how many nights a week you are applying it. I am using it around 5 times a week.

As Retinol turns over your skin, gentle exfoliating you may get peeling and some slight redness which is ‘normal’ and very common – the product is working, just make sure you aren’t over-doing it and ease yourself in my friends! Always make sure you are wearing SPF in the day , ESPECIALLY when using any retinol treatment as your skin will be more susceptible to sun damage. This also may seem obvious, but perhaps not to first time retinol users, but it is a PM TREATMENT ONLY!

WHAT IS RETINOL?

Retinol is a vitamin A derivative. It sits amongst many other derivatives that you may have heard of such as retinal, Retinaldehyde, Retinoic Acid Esters and Tretinoin.

IS RETINOL SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE USING?

YES! It is the one ingredient that dermatologists consistently recommend to treat the skin as it’s one of the most effective ingredients you can use on your skin and it treats such a huge range of skin concerns. Retinol will regulate cell turnover, promote effective exfoliation, prevent acne, even skin tone, control oil, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, unclog pores, amongst other things!

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF RETINOL?

We need to talk about retinoids first. Retinol sits underneath this as one of the many forms of retinoids aka Vitamin A derivatives. Am I making sense. I’ll try and keep it simple.

Retinoids are broken down into four main categories: retinyl esters, retinol, retinaldehyde, and retinoic acid. The first three are available as over-the-counter skin care products while retionic acid is only available in prescription form. The strongest form you can get non-prescription is Retinaldehyde (aka RETINAL) which is in products such as Medik8 and Skin Rocks and the more common one is Retinol which is in many serums and skincare products, including the Odacite Retinol + Hyaluronic Acid serum. Retinol is effective if it’s a the right % and has the right delivery method and accompanying ingredients. Not all retinols are the same!

odacite retinol and hyaluronic acid serum review

I hope my review of the Odacite Retinol + Hyaluronic Acid Serum was useful and answered all your questions. I think it’s a brilliant serum, and for me it has been really effective and I have seen great results. Definitely look into retinol as an ingredient to incorporate into your skincare routine, particularly if you are in your 30’s and 40’s + and you are seeing signs of ageing. Just do your research, start off with it gently (a couple of nights a week to start) and then you can build up the amount of retinol application and also the retinol strength!

Do let me know if you have any questions….or want to chat about retinol products! I would love to know some of your favourites.
