One of my favourite skincare brands EVER have just launched a new skincare duo, namely the Manuka Honey Skin Brightening Day Cream & Eye Cream. I think by now we all know of their gorgeous AURA Manuka Honey Face Mask (If you don’t….get to know it, it’s SO good) and I am really pleased to share with you that they are extending the Manuka range with a fabulous day and an eye cream.
Don’t know Antipodes? I‘m sure you do, but if you don’t : It’s a natural, gorgeous and certified organic skincare (and a bitta makeup) brand from New Zealand. It uses highest quality ingredients from new Zealand nature and raw super-fruit extracts to produce high-tech, anti-ageing driven products.
Why Manuka Honey?
Manuka honey has been a big buzz word (LOL no pun intended……it was) of recent years and it’s just as good in your skincare as it is on your toast and here is why : The Manuka honey in these creams (it’s active 20+ AKA very potent) acts as a natural anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory , anti-fugal and anti-acne treatment. Any skin blemishes and breakouts are kept at bay, and skin is soothed & calmed.
The Skin Brightening Light Day Cream is suitable for ALL skin types including if you are dry/dehydrated all the way down to the oily and breakout skin types. I am combination/ breakout and this has been wonderful on my skin, particularly in this strange autumn-winter weather transitional period when your skin can go a bit nuts.
The Manuka Honey 20+ acts as an anti-bacterial and ant-blemish solution, the addition of Peony Flower Extract protects and illuminates the complexion, and the addition of Bee Venom* has a lifting and collagen-stimulating effect. As with pretty much ALL Antipodes skincare, this also contains their signature Vivanza Grape extract which is a potent ant-oxidant AND has been clinically proven to improve skin elasticity and firmness.
Dry and dehydrated skins will also love this face cream as it also contains super-hydrators Hyaluronic Acid and Avocado Oil. If you feel you need even more hydration then apply serum underneath or drop a touch of the Antipodes Avocado & Rosehip Oil in with it to give it that extra nourishing boost.
*On a side note : yes, it’s real bee venom. No bee’s are harmed in extracting their venom. They are free to fly and forage on manuka flowers before and after the gentle extraction : Antipodes is completely cruelty-free/ no animal testing. DO NOT USE these products or any containing bee venom if you have allergies to bee stings.
The Manuka Honey Skin-Brightening Eye Cream contains key ingredient Manuka Honey 20+ to act as an anti-inflammatory and to soothe the delicate eye area. It also contains Persian Silk Extract and this combined with the Vivanza Grape Extract to brighten and protect the skin. Another ingredient which caught my beady eye is Retinol which comes about half way down the ingredients list, so not super strong but a good dose that will definitely boost the anti-ageing properties of this eye cream.
The thing I like about this eye cream is that it is suited to an oily/blemished skin. I have a HUGE problem with eye creams and there are few that I can actually use without getting spots and milia outbreaks. This is because I think most eye creams are quite rich and possibly don’t take into account that some of of have oily skin around the eyes also, so hooray for this eye cream which shouldn’t (and hasn’t in the 2 weeks I have been using it) cause any reactions of problems.
The eye cream is priced at £35.99 for 30ml (that’s double most eye cream sized FYI) and the Manuka Face Cream comes in at £39.99 for a generous 60ml tub. Most face creams are between 40-50ml. Not only are these skincare products really, very good, but the prices are so reasonable for what you are getting in terms of anti-ageing ingredients and natural, high quality and ethically-sourced ingredients. Worth every single penny. And more.
