There are only a few products you will see time and time again in every makeup artist’s kit, dotted along all of the tables backstage at London Fashion Week and on film set makeup rooms all over the world : Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre is one of them.
Up until a few years ago, ‘Embroylisse’ was simply an elusive tube of cream that only makeup artist’s had and would stock up on by the tonne on trips to Paris where a dash to a local pharmacy would would always be an unspoken necessity. Orders would be taken from fellow makeup artist’s for the original (& in my humble opinion, still the best) Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre alongside Bioderma Sensibio micellar water. A true makeup artist I finally was when I proudly had these 2 displayed on my table!
Thankfully, it’s easy to buy now and in plenty of shops here in the UK as well as many online outlets including Space NK, Feel Unique & even Boots have hopped on the Embryolisse wagon.
If you don’t know much about this small/niche skincare brand then here’s a quick lowdown ; Embryolisse was founded in 1950 when a Paris hospital dermatologist created the now infamous Lait Creme Concentre which is STILL the best-seller. This is a great multi-tasking cream that can be used as a moisturiser, primer, cleanser, mask & aftershave balm. This cream has a relatively basic formula, nothing to shout home about BUT it simply works for pretty much all skins, preps the skin prior to makeup application, leave a glow, rids dryness and it’s perfect for sensitive skin too. I think all of the above is what makes is so popular with makeup artists : it’s a space-saver and the ultimate multi-tasker!
Embryolisse often do limited edition packaging of the Lait Creme Concentre (like my PARIS one above) for various celebrations and birthdays so make sure you keep your eyes out for those if you are a die-hard fan. Aside from this, they have branched into lots of other types of skincare including cleansers, anti-ageing moisturisers, micellar waters, eye treatments, lip balms and even BB creams.
