It’s the perfect time of year to de-junk your cluttered skincare shelf and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing over the weekend. Not only are we changing seasonally from winter into spring, but I have simply overloaded on the skincare as of late, and I’m finding myself using countless lotions and potions and it’s all just a bit too much…..for my bathroom AND my skin!
So, I’ve had a good clean up : I’ve refined my skincare items that I keep on my main bathroom shelf from around 20 (yikes!) to now 9. It feels good. It looks so much better. My skin is going to thank me.
I’ve added some brand new items into my skincare shelfie alongside my exhisting favourites which are all these spangly things below:
The Tata Harper Resurfacing mask. I have used this in the past, quite a while ago, but I remember my skin liked it and I spotted it on my Sephora shopping spree when I was in Boston last year. I love her skincare although it’s super pricey but I find it easier to justify the masks as it’s something I use once more sporadicly so they last a long time. This mask is a great non-abrasive brightening mask that gives you instant glow and radiance.
Malin + Goetz Jojoba Face Scrub. I’ve used only a little but of the M+G skincare (love that Replenshing serum!) so this is completely new to me although I have heard good things. I am going to use this as my x2 a week face scrub : it’s not overly abrasive for a physical scrub and these work really well with chemical/AHA scrubs (the above Tata Harper mask) so I will be using these in conjuction with one another for (hopefully) baby soft skin.
NIOD Multi-molecular hyaluronic complex. I have a full review of this here and am liking it. A LOT. Hence why it’s slipped straight into my new routine. I love the lightweight texture of it and it sinks quickly into my skin leaving it feeling it soft and supple.
Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream. I’m one os those SR fans that’ll quite literally buy anything she brings out. This on paper, should tick every single box that my skin needs : Brightening. Lightweight. Papaya Enzymes. Hyaluronic Acid. It should work on my skin, it really should and it needs to for £60. I did try a deluxe sample of this before and it seemed to work for me and I think this lightweight gel is perfect coming into Spring and then Summer. Our skin produces more oil as the weather gets warmer so this is the perfect time to be using this lightweight cream-gel.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist. I’ve had this for quite some time. It’s one of those products I’ve had coveted for years and once I purchased it, I stashed it away like some crazy skincare hoarder…*I needed to SAVE IT!* Save it for what?! I had/have no idea so I thought it was time to bite the bullet and crack it open. I use this whenever my skin needs a boost, in place of a toner to tighten my pores and also over makeup to refresh and re-hydrate. I always have a hydration spray in my skincare so I’m looking forward to seeing how this fancy facial mist fares. Expecting good things.
TIPS TO SPRING CKEAN YOUR SKINCARE
1.) Check the expiry dates on your skincare. On every single beauty product, including skincare is a little symbol of an open jar and next to it it will say a number and the letter ‘M’. This indicates how long that item will be *good* for AFTER it has been opened. You’ll be surprised at how many items of skincare in your arsenal are out-of-date. CHUCK BITCHES.
2.) Refine your regime. Do you have 6 serums and 4 moisturisers alongside various other potions and pots? Whittle it down to the necessary. I currently have 2 serums, 2 oils, 1 moisturiser, 1 eye cream. Before my spring clean it was at least double this!
3.) Are you even using it? I for one, have some pretty looking skincare items that sit on my bathroom shelf looking very pretty but I rarely use. These, if we refer back to point 1, will go off if they are left unused : have you got a friend or family member who would appreciate it? Maybe give it to someone who will appreciate and enjoy!
