Makeup Crush Monday #7 | Paul & Joe Illuminating Touch Pen.

Once you get over the sheer beauty and girly-ness of the Paul & Joe packaging you may expect the product inside not quite to live up to it’s flamboyant look…well that’s what I’ve always and stupidly assumed but I have been a little blown away by the handful of products I have tried from them lately. My first dabble was only 2 months ago, and I’m really excited now to try more of their range. First on my love-list is this week’s Makeup Crush Monday:

The Illuminating Touch Pen* is at it sounds; a concealer/highlighter in a handy pen applicator that brightens and illuminates the skin. It is a take on the original classic, touché éclat, but there really are way better formulas and products out there now: this being one of them.

This contains 3 different types of ‘secret light’ that enhances the radiance of the skin. The texture feels really nice and creamy/skincare-like on my skin. The formula is super easy to blend and leaves any area that it is applied to still *skin-like*. I personally never use this type of highlighting pen solely as under eye concealer: I always (and you should too) use them as a second step to give lift and light to my more heavy duty concealer. If you only need a touch of concealer under the eyes, then this on it’s own will be perfect, but I need a bit more help, so will apply my thicker concealer on first (eg Dermablend stick concealer) with this illuminating, light weight concealer over the top.

I find it good to apply highlighting concealers right in the inner corner of the eye and blend down and out as this is where you will have the most darkness. I hope my basic diagram kind of makes sense. I have the paler 01 shade in the Paul & Joe concealer (they do 3), which is lighter than my skintone but I find this gives perfect brightness.

The Illuminating Touch Pen is also a perfect touch up product to have in the handbag for when you need a non-alcoholic perk me up and you are looking a little bleaurgh and tired. A click and swipe of this will awaken the skin : Not just for under the eyes!

Have you tried much of the Paul & Joe range? I’m new to it, so any other P&J suggestions welcome!
