September Beauty Favourites.

With the weather becoming a little colder, richer creams and more nourishing skincare is needed. I am finding myself having to pay just that little bit more attention to my beauty regime, and the little shortcuts that perhaps I got away with in the summer, I need to really pay attention to right now. The facials, the body hydration, and the hair treatments…all make such a difference when that weather is a little harsher and we are generally feeling a little sorry for ourselves.

Better late than never : My September Beauty Favourites.

Argan+ Overnight Treatment. A wonderful, sumptuous night cream which is just what my skin is needed at the moment. Not only does my skin get more dehydrated at this time of year, but I have been using the Sunday Riley U.F.O treatment pretty much daily which is making my skin a lot less oily. So in steps the much-needed, richer PM cream into my skincare regime. This contains Argan Oil, Shea Butter, Peach Oil, Vitamin E and a Stem Cell Complex to rejuvenate the skin. What’s even better is this (and the range) is available from my local Waitrose. Score.

GOSH lipstick Matte Rose. This is a really good dupe of one of my favourite MAC lippies ‘Pink Plaid’: it is a mauvey, soft pink, great for a natural-but-done lip, and the finish of these matte lipsticks is smooth and long wearing, but not as drying as say a liquid lipstick. GOSH do around 10 shades of this matte formula and the colour selection is really clever from the key nudes and bright red carpet reds.

L’Oreal Professionel Mythic Oil Serum De Force. My bleached, over-processed hair is screaming out for some nourishment and a hairdresser recently told me the best way to treat my damaged hair is with oils, oils and more oil. Hello to my new friend. This is elixir made with Evening Primrose Oil to strengthen and regenerate the hair. I apply it to towel-dried hair from root to scalp and have noticed a great improvement in how my hair feels and looks when it is dry after using this.

Lanolips Lemonaid Balm. This product is one which I used for a while and I recently re-discovered it lurking in the bottom of one of my handbags. I absolutely love the brand Lanolips, I feature it a lot on here, and this lip balm is lovely and rich, gives a slight shimmery finish and it tastes of zesty lemon (yes, I eat my lip balms, you should too..). It contains key ingredient high grade Lanolin which is a fabulous natural emollient (that comes from sheep’s wool) & also a great blend of oils including organic Lemon Oil that not just makes it fresh to apply but this acts as a light exfoliant to get rid of any chapped skin. Even better that this is available in my local Waitrose (bigger stores hold Lanolips) OR I am pretty sure Boots are doing this now too.

Illamasqua Rose Gold Palette. I am a huge fan of this instagram-friendly palette. It has that perfect mix of warm tones that I just love to wear ; reds, oranges, warm browns and golds. It also has a nice balance of both matte and shimmer shadows so you can customise it to how you like. The shadows, as with all Illamasqua are really rich in pigment and have a lovely buttery finish that makes them easy to blend. My full review and 3 eye looks with this palette can be found here.

Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Miracle Makeover Facial Oil. I assumed this was just a normal rose face oil when I first got this, and I have so many face oils at the moment that this went to the back of the oil drawer. However on recent and closer inspection this is a really clever concept and I really like the idea and multi-use of this clever oil. Admittedly I have only used this like thrice so far, but it’s absolutely worth a mention here…You can use this oil either just straight into your moistursier/serum to give it an oily boost OR you can use this as a pre-cleanse oil. LOVE. So when you use it as a pre-cleanse it’s not one of those that you can just use as your cleanser as it leaves quite an oily film on your skin (hint: must use a cloth), but it is fabulous as a first step to your PM cleanse as with just one pump massaged over your face & eyes, it starts to break down stubborn/heavy eye and face makeup, making makeup removal easier and making sure with your second cleanse your skin is left perfectly clean and lovely. I also love the fact is comes in a relatively small bottle which makes it ideal for travel and weekends away.

DHC Liquid Eyeliner. Possibly THE best liquid eyeliner in the whole world. It’s inky, it’s blacker-than-black and razor-sharp feline flicks are a made easy with this lightweight pen. I think I am on around no.5 of these now and they are worth every penny of the £16 pricetag. Psssssss they are currently on sale for just £13.50 on the DHC Website until the end of November. Involve yourself!

Bareminerals Barepro Foundation. If you have seen the before/after photos from my review of this foundation, I think you will agree that it is a pretty impressive. This is the latest mineral foundation from Bareminerals, and it is a skin treat for blemishes/oily skin, alongside being a really good coverage and long-wear foundation. I tend to stay away from powder foundations in general, as even though I am oily, I find they still make my skin looks flat and caked with makeup…..but this foundation really gives a lovely, natural look finish. I have been wearing it pretty much daily over the last couple of months, if not solo, then over the top of a tinted moisturiser to give a bit more ‘oomph’.
