It’s been a hot minute since I have tried any of the new Stila products and I’m bringing you a review on the new Hide & Chic foundation. The last time I have tried a Stila foundation must be maybe 8 years ago although I’ve always been a huge advocate of their colour and of course, *those* convertible colors.
Stila do a few different types and formulas of foundation with this one being the newest to the collection : it’s an elixir type foundation that is packed full of skincare ingredients to give you a smooth, refined and healthy-looking skin.
The more older I get, the less coverage I seem to like, or at least I like to *feel* like I don’t have anything on. Gone are my days of doublewear and full, thick coverage. I like my skin to look like skin and feel clean and fresh. I also just can’t be dealing with the touch-ups and powdering that comes with a full coverage. I love a foundation that feels barely there, looks flawless and is low maintenance and I *think* the Stila Hide & Chic ticks all of these boxes.
It comes in a glitzy gold dual-chamber plastic bottle with a pump applicator. As it’s a very light/watery texture then you need to give the foundation a shake before use to make sure the ingredients haven’t separated.
I apply it with a foundation brush as opposed to sponge but you could use a sponge if you like that fuller coverage.
The texture of this foundation is incredible : it’s super lightweight and serum-like yet gives a really, really wonderful and natural-looking coverage. If you build this foundation up you can get a pretty much full coverage, I apply it pretty lightly to get a light-medium coverage. It feels super breathable and fresh all day. For optimum wear then get the One-step Primer underneath which is a great colour-correcting and brightening primer and again, this is a product I have used for many, many years.
It stays on and wears well on my skin. As normal, maybe a light powder half way through the day but nothing major. As it’s breathable, it won’t trigger your skin into producing lots of oil so it really does keep looking fresh. The thing I love the most about this is how fluid and lightweight it is so you really feel like you have nothing on your skin, yet that coverage is there.
This Stila Hide & Chic foundation is a long wearing and humidity-proof formula. I think it’s probbaly suitable for most skin types, if you are the extreme ends of the spectrum (super dry / oily) then just prep your skin accordingly to get the best out of this foundation.
Comes in 30 shades. The price is £31 for 30ml.
I paired Hide & Chic foundation with the Pixel Perfect Concealer which again, is a really lightweight formula and a concealer that you can use anywhere on the face. It feels very light and fluid for a concealer and you apply it yet it really does give you that fuller coverage if you want to build it up in problem areas. Comes in 15 shades.
I haven’t powdered or set the foundation in the above photos, so if you like less glow then whack on a bit of setting powder. I genuinely leave it until mid-way through the day for powder as I love that natural, radiant finish.
