This is a fragrance I have had for so many years and thought it was time to review it for you! It is probably the ONLY fragrance that me and my husband will share and is a true unisex fragrance icon!

Reassuring, sophisticated, and timeless. Colonia is the iconic Acqua di Parma Eau de Cologne that symbolises Italian chic in a universally-loved, harmonious citrus blend. It’s fresh, it’s enlivening, it’s 100% unisex and such a timeless classic.

About Acqua Di Parma :

Acqua di Parma started as a small factory in Parma. The first fragrance, Colonia, was created in 1916 by the baron Carlo Magnani from Parma as his own personal Colonia. Acqua di Parma today is a symbol of Italian sophistication, discreet luxury, and craftsmanship that is inspired by its heritage and yet constantly evolving to always stay relevant and meaningful.

This was the FIRST fragrance created by Acqua Di Parma all the way back in 1916. It was actually first used as a gentleman’s handkerchief spray and fast became a symbol of Italian chic and soon celebrities were wearing it as a cologne including Cary Grant, Ava Gadner and Audrey Hepburn. From the humble beginnings in a small factory in Parma, the Colonia scent soon projected it into a prominent and iconic fragrance house.

Colonia comes in the iconic and instantly-recognisable Acqua di Parma bottle. The classic white labels echo the timeless, universally-loved character of the Eau de Cologne while the cylinder box is dressed in the Acqua di Parma signature yellow shade. The coat of arms on the perfume label underlines the long history of the Maison.

Acqua Di Parma Colonia is a citrus fragrance. It is composed of lavender, rosemary, Sicilian citrus, Bulgarian rose, jasmine, amber and light musk.

 

Acqua Di Parma Colonia Review.

I find this one of the best unisex scents going. It’s very fresh and herbal and it really does suit both men and women. I am often not overly fond of citrus scents, I can find them too clean and ….often a little boring but the Acqua Di Parma Colonia has more depth and layers to it than most ‘lemon’ scents. When I first spray it I can really smell both the lemon and the lavender which I really love : it has that herbal air about it. It’s fresh, luminous but grounded with that slight hint of amber and musk.

Lemon, Sweet Orange, Calabrian Bergamot

Heart Notes:
Lavender, Bulgarian Rose, Verbena, Rosemary

Base Notes:
Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli

I actually first purchased this for my husband as a day-to-day fragrance. I usually opt for something less citrus-based hence why it was first for him…. and then slowly I started to pick it up and it became more and more of a sharing fragrance for us both over the years. This is one of the most ultimate unisex fragrances on the market and probably the most infamous. It really does suit and appeal to both men and women.

If you are a fan of very typical feminine scents, then this one may not be for you as I still think the Acqua di Parma Colonia does sway to the side of being slightly more typically masculine in scent.
