January Favourites.

January….well didn’t that fly by?! I feel like my feet have barely touched the ground since Christmas, and here we are in February 2016. January was a nice mix of work and fun for me..I had a little staycation break in Pembrokeshire, Wales which was just stunning ; such a lovely, secluded and relaxing place, and then the last couple of weeks I have back back on the work hustle (& stress!) in London. I had a little Christmas beauty splurge for myself and bought some great new bits which I will show you in full soon and here is a handful of my favourite beauty beauty bits from January, including some items from aforementioned splurge!

I had a weeny hair disaster a few weeks ago which I have been trying to correct ever since (HINT: Bleach & bright fuc*ing orange). I absolutely love everything I have used from BLEACH London and this was the first time trying the Silver Conditioner which is really good ; Nice and rich to nourish my straw-like hair, a lovely scent and most importantly, a hint of blue/purple to counteract any brassy tones.

Makeup hits have included the latest Hourglass Ambient blusher , Incandescent Light which is a pretty peachy coral. There wasn’t one of the other shades that I really liked from the original selection of Ambient Blusher shades, although I was really trying to love one. This shade came out just before Christmas and I bought it instantly, L O V E. I am constantly replacing and buying new mascaras to try but last month I re-purchased an old favourite, the Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara. Possibly the best mascara in the entire world which softens the blow of the £35 price tag. This mascara literally makes my lashes full, soft and fluttery without fail and it stays wet (& smelling of quite-literally roses) for ages. For that perfect no-makeup, clean eyelid look, I have been using the NARS eye paint in Porto Venere which is a beautiful creamy gel base that dries quickly to a crease-free long wear. This shade is that perfect matte-satin creamy pink that makes eyes look clean and awake in an instant & a great base for bolder colours. A dupe for MAC Painterly. The Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer is something I picked up in my Sephora haul last year but literally only opened it very recently. It’s a full coverage, generally *amazing* concealer that is currently replacing my Kevyn Aucoin SSE which I have been using for years. I like the squeezy tube so it’s really quick and easy to apply and super concentrated so it gets rid of any blemishes and marks in seconds. Full review coming soon.

Skincare-wise there are lots of new entries, with all of them being purchases besides Good Genes. A recent launch from Pestle & Mortar was the ‘Hydrate’ lightweight moistursier, the second skincare item to come from this range after the reputable Hyaluronic Serum. I took this away to me on my week away to give it a good once over and it’s in instant hit for me ; as described, lightweight in texture so feels weightless on my skin and packed with peptides to firm and repair. Full review coming very soon. Another piece of newness is the Kat Burki Intense Recovery Rose Hip Eye Serum which I was given a deluxe sample of to try a while back. It’s really, REALLY good. A lot of eye creams are too rich and give me milia so I often don’t use anything (my older self is kicking me) or I have to use a really basic gel that ends up doing nothing for me. This, however, is a serious anti-ageing kick and contains some amazing ingredients in high concentrates to get proper results. I am absolutely buying the full size of this little beauty. The Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask is probably one of the best clay masks I have used ; it draws out impurities without the taut, dry feeling and is enriched with  a cocktail of skin-loving minerals including calcium & magnesium. This is my once-a-week must at the moment to keep my blemishes at bay and give me a really nice deep cleanse. Sunday Riley Good Genes I have used for a good few years now, even before it was so in-vogue like it is now! A good hit of wonder-ingredient lactic acid ensures the skin is balanced, bright, youthful & blemish-free. I recently re-purchased this and forgot how good it really is. Back in Love. Last but by no means least is the little un-assuming metal tin which is the PurePortions Arnica Rescue Salve. They do 4 of these handy little pots which are targeted for different things and this one is incredible for bruises, strains & sprains. A little unusual to opt for this one, but after having a little botox bruise, this handy little balm cleared it up literally within a day, and stopped the ache! More of the botox chat coming soon and definitely more reviews of the PurePotions skin care products which are all little miracle workers.
