Wow it’s been a long ol’ time since I did a monthly favourites post so I’m bringing it back to the old school and giving you a bunch of beauty that I have been delving into and loving over the last month or so.
Makeup-wise: the newest and most exciting launch on my radar has to be the new PIXI Liquid Fairy Lights. These are high shimmer/ metallic cream eye shadows that are veryyyyy similar in formula to our beloved Stila Magnificent Metals. Super glimmery, shimmery, multi-faceted and the colours are absolutely BEAUT! Full review & swatches a’ comin’ soon.
Base-wise I’m back on to the Bareminerals Complexion Rescue ; A beautiful lightweight tinted gel cream that floods the skin with hydration and pigment to give a wonderful lightweight & dewy coverage. It’s a tinted moisturiser with a little bit more, with 16 shades to choose from and also contains an SPF30. It’s *that* just-been-to-the-gym-skin. For peskier areas the Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer is being my BFF. The creamy formula works quickly to cover any areas of redness, blemishes on the face and makes easy work of dark circles and brightening up under the eye area. I can’e be bothered with faffing with two different concealers at the moment so this is perfect ; and it stays put in this humidity.
The Barry M Liquid Chromes has been a go-to glow of mine since they launched at the start of this year (did you peep me full review and swatches? It’s right here) I think these are 100% THE best high street liquid illuminators that money can buy and they are the perfect dupe to my favourite Cover FX enhancer drops. In the winter I was all over the ‘At First Light’ shade (pink-silver) and now I’m reaching for the warmer, golden tones of the ‘Liquid Fortune’.
YES we are roasting here in the UK right now. YES we love to have a good ol’ British moan about it and NO, we absolutely CANNOT handle this heat. If you feel like you still need that faithful face of makeup on then the Too Faced Peach Mist Mattifying Spray is going to be your best anti-humidity pal. This gives you a fresh, matte, 14-hour wear.
I’m taking it back to the old school with my nail colours and I have been digging up the Models Own Polishes For Tans from a few years back. These are bright neon shades, and they initially had 10 shades and now I see they only have three online but I’m really hoping they re-ignite this collection as it was one of my favourite ever. Currently wearing : neon yellow. Keeping my lips prepped and hydrated is lil’ EOS lip balm ‘Coconut Milk’. These balms are so SO good and I love the strange egg-shaped compact and they are so much nicer to use and apply than you would expect.
Skincare-wise it’s been a better month. My skin went absolutely INSANE in the first few months of my pregnancy and I’ve managed to find a pretty good combination that is working for me and keeping the redness and breakouts at bay. Cleansing-wise I have been all over my new FOREO Luna 2 and I am using this daily to cleanse my skin and perk me up in the AM. My full review went up just last week so you can check that out here if ya fancy. Cleanser-wise I’m constantly switching up between quite a few but I’m particularly enjoying the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and the Una Brennan Vitamin C Gentle Daily Micro Polish Wash. The DHC cleansing Oil is a bit of a cult favourite and it’s one I go back to time and time again. A simple, olive oil base cleanser that simply removes all your makeup (inc. waterproof) and is suitable for all skin types. The Una Brennan Vitamin C Gentle Daily Micro Polish is a zesty, brightening AM cleanser with gentle beads to slough away dead skin cells and grime. It can be used daily, but I am tending to use this a few times a week when I need a good enlivening deep cleanse in the AM. Smells like a dream.
Ok my facial spritzes and spray collection is currently off the scale at the moment : I have SO many and I kinda love them all like children / my cats. Perfect in summer to combat over-heated skin, stressed skin, dryness and irritation. I keep a spray in every room of the house to spritz myself up when I need of that cooling hit. The Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence is on the the best in my stash and it’s not only refreshing and soothing with the abundance of organic plant and flower extracts, but it’s also a moisture mist as it contains a good kick of hyaluronic acid to plump and nourish the skin cells. It’s a pricey one coming in @ £77 so I find it a bit wasteful to spray over makeup throughout the day, so I use it as a pre-serum treatment to get the most out of the ingredients and goodness.
Last up in my bundle of monthly favourites is the Skinny Tan Salon Effects Spray which has been a really easy tan to use when I simply CBA to tan but WANT a tan. I’m using this pretty much just on my face chest and arms to give a really quick and natural looking glow. I love the fact that it gives a decent colour after just one use so I only am having to use this once a week to keep up my faux glow. God help me if anyone see’s me naked as I resemble a ZOOM ice cream at the moment.
