This was a pretty MEGA launch for Ole Henriksen and if you haven’t seen or heard of this then you *may* have been hiding under a rock. Maybe it’s nice under there. Say HELLO to the Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment that is promising to put to bed (pun intended) uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles.

Heard of the brand Ole Henriksen but not quite sure what it’s about then I’ll give you a quick lowdown ;  I’ve been using this brand for around 8 years now and I’m a huge fan! Ole Henriksen believes in the transformative power of skincare that allows you to glow from the inside out, all day long. Ole Henriksen is a cosmetician and skincare guru more than 40 years experience in the skincare industry, and his Hollywood spa which has been open for 30 years+ was the go-to for the Hollywood elite and celebrities. Ole’s formulations expertly combine powerful actives, natural botanicals and essential fatty acids to address all skin concerns for all skin types. Whether your skin concern is age-defying, dullness, oily skin, acne prone skin, uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles, or dry and sensitive skin, Ole has a skincare product to meet your specific needs.

I find the products are really results driven and so many product are in my day-to-day skincare routine. I was really excited about the Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment that it went straight on my face the night I received it and I have been using it for 3 weeks now. So here is all you need to know about this potent PM treatment.

OLE SAYS ‘Put uneven texture, dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles to bed: This 20% acid smoothing serum does the work while you sleep. Packed with a powerful 20% acid blend (10% AHAs and 10% PHAs), this nightly retexturizing serum overhauls skin texture to reveal a significantly smoother, renewed, brighter complexion. And, it helps replenish skin with aloe juice, birch sap and cotton water.’

Based on an 8-week clinical study on 36 women, after 4 weeks:

  • 97% of users agree this product gives skin a healthy glow
  • 94% of users agree this product reveals softer, smoother skin
  • 92% of users agree this product retexturizes skin

My Review:

The serum is quite thick and has a smoothing feel and texture (yes it has silicone). It has a slight pale yellow hue AND it smells a bit like lemon cheescake! When applied after cleansing it feels nice on the skin although it sometimes has left my skin a little tacky….it could be the humidity lately?

The first night I used this it did tingle a fair bit. This is a STRONG acid treatment. It contains glycolic acid, lactic acid alongside various fruit acids so it really packs a punch. It smells citrusy, I like the smell of lemon in this *but* does it make the product very strong (lemon extract has a very low ph) so I would advise easing this into your routine if you aren’t used to acids. I’m used to acids and I really felt this one my skin. That aside, it seems to be very effective and my skin has been great over the last few weeks.

I am using it maybe 3 times a week at the moment and this seems to suit and sit into my skincare regime really well. I use it on it’s own after cleansing and don’t layer it with anything as I don’t want to disrupt the work the acids are doing!

ALWAYS wear an SPF in the day anyway but be very rigid with this when using acid treatments like this at night. I am using an SPF50 every single day! Why? Because using an acid treatment exfoliates the skin, essentially thinning out that top layer and getting rid of dead skin cells, leaving it more susceptible to sun damage the next day.

I would suggest using this as a few times a week treatment as opposed to every night, I think it may be a little strong. In terms of products that I have tried that are similar to this, I can only really think of the Alpha H Reboot Serum which I absolutely love, although this contains retinol as well. The Dewtopia is definitely an option for you if you want a quick turnaround in your skin’s texture and appearance. You will get rapid results!

To summarise, I think it is definitely a very effective treatment, just go steady with it and ease it onto your routine. Sensitive skin, it’s not for you, sorry! I feel like this would also be a really great treatment to have in the winter months….when your skin if feeling a little dull and drab, ya know?! When you need a boost and brighten….and quick results.

The Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment costs £46 for 30ml and is available at Boots here in the UK. Vegan and cruelty free.
