Let’s chat lip Balms for dry, sore & chapped lips !
I am a lip balm KWEEN. I love them. I have them everywhere. In every handbag there is at *least* one. Upstairs in my house, downstairs in my house. By my bed, in most drawers, in the car. They are EVERYWHERE. I also don’t have one favourite : I have many favourites! When the weather gets colder I feel like the lip balms needs to get a bit more intense and harder working. My lips gets dry, chapped and a bit peely and sore if I’m not careful.
Here is my lineup for some of the best lip balms for dry and chapped lips!
Liz Earle Superskin Superlip balm. (£18) One of my new favourites as I only discovered this last year and I’m already into my second tube (one tube lasts AGES btw!). It has a nice thick, rich and comforting texture and it one that instantly soothes and plumps the lips and gets to work on any dryness and lip woes. Key ingredients include Alaria esculenta and dragon’s blood extracts, pomegranate seed oil, argan oil and shea butter to comfort and protect against dryness.
Malin & Goetz Mojoto Lip Balm (£12) . This is the lightest in texture out of all of my favourite lip balms. It’s almost like a gel formula and feels weightless and lovely on the lips….but packs a punch! They do an original flavour-less version and a mojito version if you like a flavour.
The gel formula is enriched with fatty acids and plant protein-based nutrients to intensely nourish while providing lasting hydrating protection.
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Miracle Cream(£28) The OG! I remember when I was young and I always heard about this product and was so intrigued when I finally got to try it. That 8 hour scent is so recognisable…and a bit nostalgic to me. This is a multi-use healing and hydrating balm that can be used anywhere you are dry. I exclusively use it on my lips and cuticles as I find it too rich and greasy for my oily skin on the face.

Lanolips 101 Ointment Multi-balm (£8.99). Another lanolin-based treat and one brand that I have been using so many years now. I first used this brand when they just had the original 101 ointment and now they seem to have that alongside loads of colours and flavours too. I love the apple at the moment…and also the mint! Enriched with Medical Grade Lanolin, Vitamin E and 100% Natural Fruit Extract to hydrate and nourish, the balm mimics lipids naturally found in the skin. I think this is a greta price and a really fantastic multi-balm that really does remedy multiple beauty issues.
Dr Lipp’s original Nipple Balm for lips (£12). This is probably the best for really dry/chapped nothing-else-is-working-lips. This is what I used when I was on Roaccutane and it was literally the only lips balm which helped my super sore, dry, bleeding chapped lips! Roaccutane was a tough journey and I remember the lip dryness was one of the worst. Dr Lipp is pure high-grade, organic lanolin and is widely used in ointments, lip balms and creams.
