I pretty much have ALL of the PIXI cleansers at the moment which have accumulated over the last few years. I have my favourites and ones that didn’t work quite as well for me so I wanted to run through the different cleansers that PIXI do, who they may be best for and a little bit more about them.
Aside from the Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse which comes in a 100ml tub, the PIXI cleansers come in a 135ml squeezy tube. I really like this packaging. It’s easy to use, it’s easy to store and travel with and I like the colours of them so they are easy to identify and slot into a the accompanying collection.
They do a good range of cleansers, so I think everyone can find a cleanser from PIXI that will really work for them. I really love at least 3 of them. They also do micellar / cleansing waters but here I am talking about the proper face-wash-with-water style of cleansers.
An overview of all of the PIXI cleansers!
Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse
Does what it says on the tin.
The most famous of all the PIXI cleansers and a bit of a holy grail PIXI product for me. This is a really innovative 2-step-cleanse-in-1 that has a oil-balm cleanser on one side for your step 1 (removes makeup, waterproof mascara, SPF) and then a cooling, gentle milk cleanser for your step 2 (this removes any oil, residue, and leaves skin feeling super soft!). It’s fragrance-free, it’s simple and it gets the job done.
I use it with a cloth as I find it just helps het rid of any traces of oil and residue and also helps with the makeup removal side of things (doesn’t come with a cloth FYI). Good for all skin types.
Rose Cream Cleanser
A decent all-round classic cream cleanser.
It’s a classic cream formula that you can use it on the face and eyes and it’ll remove light eye makeup. It doesn’t strip the skin and leaves me feeling comfortable and nourished. I personally like this as a first-step cleanse if I have light makeup on and a second-step after an oil-balm for when I have heavy makeup on.
Contains rose and avocado oils, chamomile and aloe vera. Doesn’t smell strongly of roses which I was kinda expecting! Good for all skin types.
Hydrating Milky Cleanser
The smoothest, creamiest, SLS-free foaming cleanse!
MY NEW FAVE. I only recently just opened this a couple of weeks ago. I was assuming a milk cleanser similar to maybe the Rose….but this is actually a beautiful, thick, creamy texture that lathers into the smoothest, shaving-foam-like texture when mixed with water. So a foaming cleanser as opposed to a traditional milk…which I actually prefer.
I’m a big fan of this and this is what I’m currently using as my AM shower face cleanse and sometimes as my second cleanse in the PM. I wouldn’t use this solely for makeup removal unless I was just wearing very light makeup. Contains coconut, probiotics and willow bark extract. Smells just really fresh and lovely, nothing overpowering. As it is a foaming cleanser it may not be best for the dry, sensitive crew.
Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel
Brightening, lightweight, AM cleanse.
The only one that didn’t work for me but I know others that swear by it! I actually thought I would love this the most as I love the Glow Tonic but I just couldn’t get to grips with it. It’s a watery-gel cleanser that is definitely an AM-in-shower kinda cleanse as it contains acids which will brighten, slough away dead skin cells and get your skin prepped for the day. Avoid the eye area due to the glycolic acid and this is also why it’s best as an AM / non-makeup removing kind of cleanser.
Best for an oily-combination skin or as a twice a week cleanse for normal-dry.
Glow Mud Cleanser
Clay mud deep pore cleanser.
This is a thick mud-creamy cleanser. Non-foaming. It is a deep-pore cleanser with 5% glycolic acid and aloe vera. It gently exfoliates and brighten the skin and I think this is a great one for a combination, oily, breakout skin. The mud/clay in it also allows you to leave this on if you want a really quick and gentle 5 minute mask. Second cleanse in the PM or an AM cleanse. Not suitable for around the eyes due to the glycolic acid.
Probably best for a combination – oily skin.
Retinol Jasmine Cleanser
Hydrating, brightening cream cleanser.
The newest addition to my PIXI cleansing collection this is a smoothing and nourishing cleanser formulated with vitamin A, ceramides to lock in moisture and jasmine oil to brighten.
For me, I’m not *so* bothered about the use of a small % of vitamin A (retinol) in a cleanser as it won’t be effective in doing a huge amount as you wash it off so quickly. Vitamin A is most effective in higher concentrates in your serum/ moisturisers as they obviously stay on the skin. This being said, it’s a decent cleanser, it smells nice (lightly of Jasmine), it does the job and it makes sense as part of their Retinol Collection (my full overview of the products can be found HERE btw!). Good for all skin types.
So I hope that helps de-bunk the PIXI cleansers a little bit as they do quite a few and it can be really overwhelming to work out which one may be best for you. Most of them are fine for all skin types but a few are a little more specific and may not work for you.
If I had to pick one…..at the moment it would be the Milky, but as an all-rounder it would have to be the Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse as that has the 2 elements to it and I do double cleanse pretty much every night. This is also the safest one to go for if you have skin sensitivity, don’t like any fragrance etc etc.
