I’ve only tried a few products from Italian makeup brand Diego Dalla Palma, it’s not *the* easiest to get hold of in-store (I think just select M&S stores) and we all know I’m not a keen online shopper when it comes to makeup. From what I have tried, I really rate their Longwear Cream Eyeshadow Sticks and their ‘Spray on Tights’ is ingenuis so was intrigued to try the High Coverage Foundation SPF20.
This is my first dabble into their bases and I was kindly sent this to try out a few months ago and have finally got round to giving it a good 2 week trial. IT’S GOOD. I don’t like my full coverage foundation to have that ‘doublewear’ look aka full coverage. The Diego Dalla Palma High Coverage Foundation has a second skin feel and look to it, all the while giving really lovely and opaque (if you want) coverage. It is a cream foundation, which comes out reasonable thick, and a little goes a long way. To be honest any heavy-duty foundation can be applied to give a range of coverage variations and finishes, so I tend to still apply this for a medium coverage, although full is easily do-able, to the point where I barely need concealer.
It isn’t as pigmented /heavy as say Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer or Estee Lauder Maximum cover but it’s a good alternative to something like Doublewear but a little more natural-looking. The only problem is the shade range : There is only 7. If you are lucky enough to match your colour then that’s great (I am 213) but not everyone will get their perfect match with this. If it’s tinted moisturiser, then you can get away with less shades as you can really sheer the product out and get it to adapt to your skin, but with a fuller coverage, you need the match to be pretty much spot on.
The wear of this foundation is as good as most of my heavy duty bases, with little touch-ups needed in the day and just an occasional powder as and when the shine breaks through a little too much! I love the squeezy pump tube and applicator and is a nice change from a bulky bottle ; it is still 30ml in size and costs £25 so definitely sits in the more high-end category.
