Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter : Review with Before + After

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter review and swatchesI have had this on my lust list since the launch : The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews, and I know I’m late to this ‘must-have-makeup’ party, but as I have finally got my hands on it : I want to share my thoughts on it.

I LOVE Charlotte Tilbury as a person and the products I have tried from her range have all been really good. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with this amazing makeup artist back in the day before her brand was launched and she is an amazing woman with incredible creative skills and is an inspiration to every makeup artist I know.

When the Hollywood Flawless Filter launched it was HYPED. I mean hype-HYPED. It was everywhere. When this occurs, I usually sit back on my haunches for a while (it can be a good trick!) so I can wait for the dust to settle after the cluster of quick-typing bloggers, press and the rest have the reviews up of it after a day. It then trickles down to the working makeup artist…onto the sets, into the kits and then I had trusted makeup artists telling me it was an amazing product = That dainty glowing bottle had to be mine.

The blurb : The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is described as a ‘revolutionary category in makeup’. A customisable complexion booster for super starlit skin in seconds which soft focuses the skin, illuminates AND smoothes fine lines and pores.

It’s a makeup product that is going to be your first step before a base, or if you have killer skin you can wear this solo just to give you that all over ethereal, lit-from-within glow. I mean, the bottom line is that this is like a very, VERY dewy CC cream. If you mixed a shedload of liquid highlighter into a tinted moisturiser, you will get a similar effect but you will be missing out on the *aesthetic* and the beauty of the Charlotte Tilbury bottle. This is a complete package product : which is glorious from what’s within, the applicator, the packaging and it’s certainly worth the £30 price tag. I will 100% be investing in this the week before it’s due to run out and I rarely feel this way about any makeup anymore.

I wear shade 3. This will be your shade if you are a MAC NC/W35, Laura Mercier Sand, NARS Punjab, IT CC medium, Fenty 250, that kinda vibe.

How I apply the Flawless Filter.

I use my normal skincare routine then slather on stripes of the filter with the oversized doe foot applicator and I then blend-buff it in with my foundation brush until I have a nice even coverage of it. You don’t need a lot. Depending on how much more coverage I want that day I will either dab on concealer where needed (for a natural coverage) or I will go ahead and apply full foundation/ base as normal.

Why I love it so much & do you really need it?

‘Obsessed’…such a cringe-cliche description about a beauty product. I actually winced a bit myself, but it’s true and I am. I love it. It’s hands down one of the best makeup products I have tried in a long time...maybe years. I personally love a dewy glow on my skin, always have, probably always will. If you don’t, you may not be as (over?)enthusiastic as myself. HOWEVER, I still think this will be great under a matte-finish foundation to give it a touch of dimension and cancel out the dullness. So even if you aren’t a dew-fan, you could still have a spot for this on your makeup table.

I love the fact it makes me wear less foundation and therefore I have a more natural finish : as you can see from the photos, when I wear this just in it’s own it gives me enough coverage to warrant just a few dabs of concealer here and there. If you are wearing it solo with concealer then definitely get that finishing powder out as you may look as little too glistening without setting it strategically (forehead / nose and sides of nose and chin)…leave the rest to ~GLOW~.

It makes my skin look healthy AF in an instant, it applies easily and actually, there is nothing similar on the market that I have tried. You don’t need any special skill set or blending techniques to make this work ; slather it on and blend with your go-to foundation brush, beauty blender or hands.

So a complete winner for me. A product that I would fully recommend anyone and everyone to try. It would absolutely suit all skin types and ages. They currently do 7 shades, but at it is a sheer pigment product, I believe this to suit most skin tones. Have you tried it? Let me know your thoughts.
