Glamglow Masks : Which One is Best for You?

Glamglow mask shopping used to be easy : ‘I’ll have the black one please’ (it was the only one), but now when you go to peruse the brand there’s a forever expanding bunch of pots, colours and promises staring back at you, so I wanted to create this mini-guide to make it easier to decipher which one/s right for your skin. I find personally that you can use them all and I simply pick & choose them as my skin’s concerns change over the year. Obviously they are not cheap, so if only one is within budget ; then this may help get the RIGHT one!

YouthMud (the black one)

The original and still the MUST-HAVE. I think this is the one that everyone should have, full-stop. The other ones, yeah pick and choose and tailor it more to your skin but I really believe this benefits most skintypes and packs such a punch. It’s the ultimate pre-party / red carpet / big occasion face mask that always gives INSTANT RESULTS. It’s not something I use weekly anymore, but as a skin prep for those important occasions when I need to be smooth and glowing! Warning : Initially gives a strong tingle when applied, but this is normal.

Key Ingredients: Kaolin, Volcanic Minerals, Purified Clay, Pumice, Green Tea, Chamomile,

BEST FOR: EVERYONE! (except the hyper sensitive)

SuperMud (the white one)

This, I find, is more targeted to more problematic skin ; blemishes, open pores, blackheads, conjested skin and even ingrown hairs. It’s a great detox mask that I normally use once a week to really deep cleanse and make me feel squeaky clean. It can be used all over the face, which is how I usually use it, OR it can be dabbed on problem areas or individual spots as a spot treatment (use a cotton bud!). Once this dries on the skin you can literally see darker spots around blemishes and open pores where the mask has pulled out congestion.

Key Ingredients: Kaolin Clay, Eucalyptus Leaf, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Aloe Vera, Calendula, Chamomile

BEST FOR: Breakout/ combination skin / open pores

HydraMud (the blue one)

The thirst-quenching hit in a jar. This is another mask I think pretty much everyone needs ; great for dehydrated, dry, stressed, overworked, over-travelled skin and can be used post-shave for guys. I am more on the oily side but I always have times when my skin is stressed, dull and a bit tight, and this is when I reach for this treatment. This can be used as a mask, as a night cream or as an in-flight mask. Smells edible!

Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid, Apple Fruit Extract, Coconut Oil, Citric Acid, Ginger Extract, Honey,

BEST FOR: Pretty much everyone can use this : in particular, those with dehydrated, overworked, stressed and over-travelled skin.

PowerMud (the green one)

The newest kid on the block. This is a mask and cleanser-in-one or a dualcleanse as they call it. It’s not quite as powerful as the other clay-based masks (white/black), it feels like a a lighter version and almost a combination of all of the above. You apply it all over the face; the texture is lighter and creamier and leave it on up to 10 minutes. You then add warm water and it will emulsify into a cleansing oil type formula and then you simply splash it off.I use this in the mornings when I wake up and still feel a bit dirty or make-uppy from the night before and want a really nice deep cleanse. I tend to apply a few minutes before the shower then hop in and rinse it off.

Key Ingredients: Witch Hazel, Kaolin, Apple fruit extract, Lavender, Chamomile flower, Rice powder

BEST FOR: Those who like to time-save and what a bit of them all.

I hope this cheat sheet type thing helps a bit more to explain about my favourite mask range. I am sure they will continue to bring more out this year so will keep you updated with the launches. Have you used any of the GlamGlow range?
