A simple and easy daytime look using one of my favourite makeup brands, Too Faced. Perfect for when you don’t have too much time on your hands and want a fuss-free makeup look.
I feel that when we think of Too Faced makeup, most of us imagine glorious, perfect contouring, flawless & pore less skin, perfectly plump lips filled with some unusual shade of melted lipstick, mirror-like highlighter and *those* Instagram brows. Which is all good. I often yearn to look *that* Instagram-fantastic…but it’s just not me, so here I am just creating a really lovely fresh and natural looking *me* base using all my Too Faced favourites.
They have launched some AMAZING products over the last year and the brand has gone from being known for just ‘chocolate palettes’ and ‘melted lippies’ to full-spectrum-all-round-and-everything makeup brand with a great selection of foundations, base products and powders that weren’t really (soz) their strong point up until more recent years. When I first stepped foot into the London Too Faced Boutique I was blown away by the amount of lines and products that they now have (and also at how on-brand-princess-perfect that place looks).
SKIN PREP + PRIME
Skin prep for a fresh looking yet long-lasting base is essential. With these more humid conditions here in the UK (it’s kinda nearly summer but not yet still teasing us) makeup that was once fresh and flawless when you left home in the morning can be a long and distant memory by 1pm so makeup sure you are using a decent skincare regime to get a lovely hydrated and even base AND of course the all-important-primer to give us a smooth canvas. Too Faced do a great selection of primers for all skin types, tones, concerns and finishes. My favourite from them has to be the Primed & Peachy Matte Primer because it has a brightening peach tint, it gives the skin a lovely smooth finish and it has a light cooling effect.
BASE
I don’t have clear skin so I do need a bit of coverage, although with my current carefree vibe, I really don’t mind the odd blemish and mark showing through. I simply like a lighter and fresher feel for my base so a strategic light dab of the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation on my cheeks, forehead and chin blended out to nothingness gives me that perfect summer skin. If you like your base a little heavier and more flawless then this foundation allows that fuller coverage if you build it up and apply with our favourite beauty blender. The accompanying Born This Way Concealer is one of my all time favourites for a one-stop all over the face and under the eye perk up. I have a shade a teeny bit lighter than the foundation to ensure I look like I’ve had *maybe* my 8 hours of sleep.
For that summery bronzey-glowy skin then the Sweetie Pie Bronzer is a must-have for the makeup bag. This wonder powder is that perfect blend of 4 pigments to give obsession-worthy hues in one easy sweep. If you are super low-main then this powder is your one-stop shop for bronze-blush-highlight. If you like a lil’ bit of extra glow (ME) then sweep on a touch of the Love Light ‘Ray of Light’ highlighter which is my no.1. Rose gold heaven powder AND it’s what I use across my eyelids pretty much on the daily right now (and for this lewk). For me, these highlighters are a little underrated because they aren’t all out disco-ball-mirror highlight but a slightly more subtle and muted glow…. which I’m all about for a quick daytime skin.
Blusher is all about the cream for me in the summer : they infuse into the skin better for a more natural finish and hey : anything that you can dab & slap on with the fingertips get the thumbs up from me. My shade of the moment is 100% the Peach my Cheeks ‘So Peachy’ which is a punchy coral pink that looks great when I have a bit of tan on my skin. To set all of the above, but without the powder-look and heaviness then the Peach Blur Finishing Powder is insanely good. This is not your normal blotting/setting powder as it has a hint of radiance so leaves the skin with a velvet finish as opposed to matte & flat. It gives the skin life and dimension and and keeps your base behaving and in place. My absolute no.1 setting powder of the moment.
EYES + LIPS
So on the lids, is a finger-dab of the Ray of Light powder which I have used as my all over highlighter. A slick of the Better Than Sex mascara (maybe a slight dab of liquid eyeliner) and that’s it for the eyes.
Finish off this speedy look with a touch of the melted liquid lipstick on the lips if you want a stain of colour that’ll see you through without having to keep re-applying. I don’t like my colour to be too heavy on ‘fresh face days’ so I blot on the colour with fingertips to give a more diffused and saturated appearance ; no perfect lip lines here my huns. For this coral-pinky lip I mixed the original melted liquid lipstick in ‘Frosting’ and the newer Peach Kiss Lipstick in shade ‘Where my Peaches At’.
