These Eyeshadow Trios are relatively new to the Crownbrush makeup range, and are a welcome addition to the huge range of existing colour products. They had a big makeup re-launch earlier this year to infiltrate the booming budget makeup market. I have a full review and swatches of pretty much everything here.
Crownbrush already do eye shadow palettes but they are artist-style big palettes which are great but bulky for carrying around in a makeup bag and some people aren’t going to use ALL those shades. I think they are probably better for makeup artists & students building up their initial kit. The trios have (obvs) three shades that are a mixture of finishes ; one metallic, one matte and one shimmer, which is perfect to achieve all kinds of finishes on the eyes. I am absolutely loving the ‘French Riviera’ trio which is for the brown/golden smokey eye. It has perfect warm tones and is a really easy-to-wear set.
The pigment is good, particularly in the shimmer shade which is lovely and soft. The matte brown shade is really good for getting depth and contour within the eyelid and you can just play around with the shades to get the finish you want. I often just wear the shimmer golden tone all over my lid for an everyday look…a touch of mascara and job done. These trios come in a small black compact with a small sponge applicator to apply, as always I recommend only using this in times of emergency and apply the shadows with proper makeup brushes such as the BK38 Deluxe Crease and the Precision Crease . If you want a really high impact look then prep the lid with the chubby eye pencil in Blizzard.
The Crownbrush trios cost just £5.99 which is, as always, a great budget price and value. They are easy-to-apply and stay on really well.
