It’s that funny transition from Spring-Summer right now and is it just me or is anyone else finding you are like ‘ahhhhhhhh summer’……oh no it’s winter…………no spring….summer’. I literally had my heating on the last couple of days WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?! Can the British weather make it’s mind up as my skin, hair, wardrobe is a little confused right now.
Anyway, no messing about, let’s get onto my monthly favourites from May.
My star product of the month is my Hot Hair Clip-In extensions. I have been raving about these everywhere lately as they are the best quality extensions I have ever tried and I love them so much! I have recently coloured/pastelised them all different tones & you can check out my post on how to do that which will come later this week. I have the 8 piece 19″ clip in’s which are perfect for a full-set of natural looking hair, they do bigger bundles too if you have thick hair or want extra, extra volume! These clip-in’s are top quality human hair so you can shampoo them, condition them, style them with heat as you do your own hair. Check back at the end of the week to see my new-look hair colour and how I did it.
Heading up my monthly skincare most-used is the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish (Rose & Lavender Edition). I have used this for many years and I love it when they bring out a really lovely scented limited edition and I think this has been my favourite combination ever. The original hot cloth cleanser is simply infused with flower oils to give it a gorgeous, seasonal scent. I actually really like this cream cleanser in the summer/warmer months and is just leaves skin feeling really cool and fresh.
The new and limited edition Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense is an absolute winner for these balmier days. I have literally used this facial spray for nearly 8 years now and I am never without it somewhere in my skincare arsenal. This limited edition bottle is the ‘intense’ formula which has a higher concentrate of rose flower oils and uses a variety of types of rose, rather than just the one. It is also in a great value (& huge!) 200ml bottle that is just the prettiest EVER. I have a travel-size 50ml bottle which I always keep and just top up for my handbag and holidays.
My skincare rouitine this month hasn’t been complete without the Bareminerals Skinlongevity serum. This has been a bit of a game-changer for my skin, and it has such a wonderful texture that doesn’t leave my combination feeling overloaded and is perfect for summer. In warmer months, your skin produces more oil so textures that are silky and light are always preferably for me as I hate feeling or looking oily. Full blurb/more info in my inital review here.
A nice hint of fresh pink lips have come thanks to Marc Jacobs lipstick in shade ‘Clara’. I have only recently tried Marc Jacobs makeup and it really lives up to expectations. These lipsticks are absolutely beautiful in texture and finish and the packaging is super luxe and on trend. I don’t wear brighter pinks *that* often but in the last week or so this has been my almost daily shade, it’s just working for me now that I have a bit of (fake) tan on the go!.
Another new launch that I am loving is the YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara which I introduced on the blog here last month. This is a really inky, wet, blacker-than black mascara that gives me immediate volume, flutter and really thick lush & glossy lashes. It is made with a ground-breaking formula that makes it have the highest concentration of pigments in any mascara! This is definately a PM mascara for me as gives a real false lash effect and an all-night smudgeproof wear.
Last but not least in my breakdown of monthly favourites comes from my favourite budget makeup brush brand and is the Crownbrush SS306 Small Contour brush. I have had this sat around on my makeup desk for a couple of months now & I hadn’t got round to using it properly until a few weeks ago. It’s a WINNER! I love the shape of it, it has synthetic (but really soft) hair so is perfect for applying both a cream or powder formula. It is designed for contouring and I have been using it for that, and I am really loving it for my cream contour products, in particular the Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate. It’s just a great size and I find with creams it can be tricky to contour with ; somehow this makes the sculpting job a lot easier….and it’s under a fiver!!!
