Birchbox UK : March 2018 ‘The Bad Gal Bang One’

So it’s finally landed, the March Birchbox. After a hella lot of build up and hype over the last month or so….mainly because it contains a sample size (Wahhhhh sample size…..SAMPLE SIZE?? < sorry an inside bloggers joke if you’ve been anywhere near twitter these last few days) of the most talked about mascara of the moment : The Benefit Bad Gal Bang.

Just to expand on why I think this box was getting a lot of beauty lovers excited ….The Bad Gal Bang : I know myself and others have been super keen to try this but not willing to commit to buying quite yet after the mixed reviews it has received so this has been a perfect way to give it the once or twice over before the £21.50.

This month’s theme is one I have time for : Mindfulness, self-care and looking after number 1 (that’s youuu hooooo my friend). Products within have been selected to help you unwind, relax and look and feel your best.

So what have we within? First up we have to mention the star of the show which is probably the Benefit Bad Gal Bang mascara. This is a decent 3g size that will easily give you a week of wear to make up your decision on this slightly ‘controversial’ mascara. It seems people have either been loving it or hating it. It is described as a volumising and 36-hour (!) wear mascara and after my first few dabbles ; I’m really liking it. It’s a very wet formula which is what I think a lot of people aren’t liking about it, but for me, this allows a really quick build up of product onto my lashes which thickens them up in a flash. I like a smaller wand as I find it easier to control and to apply onto bottom lashes also. As long as you give it a careful couple of minutes to let it dry, it stays on smudge proof for the day.

For the relaxing and pampering side of things we have two products : The BLAQ Hydrogel Eye Masks (2 patches) which contain activated charcoal to detox and decongest puffy/tired eyes and star ingredient Hyaluronic Acid which plumps and hydrates. For the face we have the Glamglow Supermud Clearing Mask Treatment which is a decent 15g /3 use tube. This is a great detox mask for congested and breakout skin and it works with activated charcoal & 6 acids to unclog pores, deep cleanse and brighten the skin. I have used this before and it’s pretty special.

Next up is a body treat and from one of my favourite french pharmacy ranges : the NUXE Reve De Miel Body Scrub. This is in a cute 30ml tub (possibly x2 uses) and it smells absolutely glorious, as does the rest of the Reve De Miel range. It exfoliates using sugar crystals and rice grans and nourishes with honey and their signature precious oil blend. YES, YES and yes. Side note : Once I have used this up I’m totally keeping this for travel skincare as it’s a really good size.

Last up is a treat for the hair in the form of Oribe (fancy) Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray. This is a real treat as I love this luxury haircare brand and I have never tried this specific product. You can use this spray on both wet and dry hair to give tousled, beachy waves without the dryness that typical salt sprays can give. Yet to try but expecting it to be as good as the rest of their styling products.

This is the first box….for a VERY long time that I quite literally love every single product in it, and I am so pleased as for me, the last few boxes have not been that good for me. It has a value of around £32.50 which is also a fantastic saving. I think any product junkie will be really pleased with this month’s box.
Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that costs £10 & £2.95 P&P. To find out more, shop and subscribe then you can get all the info on the Birchbox UK website.
