The original liquid lipstick. These were around a long time ago : before we even knew they were *a thing*, were going to be a thing, and before we all craved that full-pigment, matte lip
I have used these in my kit for nearly as long as they have been out and although newer formulas and perhaps fancier ones have since launched, I always have a place in my heart and my kit for the fabulous Hourglass Opaque Rouge liquid lipstick.
The formula isn’t as thick or drying as a lot of liquid lipsticks ; they contain advanced polymers to ensure vibrant pigments, lip conditioning emollients, anti-oxidant fruit extracts, Goji Berry and vitamins A, C & E.
They are packaged in quite a small tube with a doe-foot applicator. They apply nice and easily, with lots of pigment and of course, they dry to a matte and long wearing finish. Another reason I love the opaque rouge is because although they only do 9 shades: I would wear Every. Single. One. They have all bases covered with the nudes, rosey lip, brights and of course *that* classic and infamous red that Hourglass is famous for : ICON.
I currently have 7 / 9 of the shades that I have swatched for your perusal. What shades do you like the look of?
My go-to shades are Icon, Riviera & Canvas. I also like to custom-blend and mix different shades together to create unique colours. Hourglass do amazing lipliners too, a lot of them matching, but to be honest, I mainly wear this sans lipliner as the pigment is so full anyway.
The opaque Rouge liquid lipsticks are £25, and can be found online and on all Hourglass counters : my favourite one is in Liberty’s!
