Birchbox is and has been my favourite beauty box for a couple of years now. In general I’ve had some really great boxes which have introduced me to many cool & niche brands that I’m pretty sure I would have never have discovered without my monthly dose of Birchbox. I find their website really good, even just for perusing beauty brands but it makes it very easy to shop the full-size products from your boxes.
This month Birchbox celebrates it’s 5th birthday and they are celebrating in style with this special box and hopefully many more celebrations to come. Some other exciting news is that Birchbox have a counter in Selfridges, Oxford Street where you can custom make your own box from an array of travel-sized treats. I think this is SUCH a great idea and will definately be going to have a nosey when I’m next in town. I think this is only a pop-up shop so I will update as soon as I find out when it will be open until.
This month’s Birchday Birchbox is celebrating everything from their birthplace…..the good ol’ US of A. I love American beauty brands and recently did a MEGA HAUL when I was there for my honeymoon.
Anyway, here is the lowdown on what is inside this month’s box:
Bliss Foot Patrol
This is an AHA based foot cream to help eliminate dead skin cells and brighten and soften the skin. Can be used daily to keep the skin soft and conditioned. I love Bliss as a skincare range, am yet to try this foot cream so am looking forward to giving it a go. A generous 30ml tube which will probably give x3 full foot applications.
Laqa & Co Cheeky lip pencil
This is a brand that I actually discovered in Birchbox around 6 months and that’s what I love about the boxes. This is a cream lip colour (I would say a good cheek colour too) that you apply straight from the twist-up bullet. This colour is absolutely gorgeous and would suit pretty much everyone. It is called ‘Humble Brag’ and is that perfect bright dusky rose.
John Masters Organics Citrus Neroli Detangler
John Masters is a brand that I am familiar with and have used in the past although I wasn’t a huge fan of the products that I did try. This is a coconut-oil based detangler that also contains neroli and grapefruit to soothe the scalp. You can apply then rinse after 3 minutes or leave it in, which is probably what I will opt to do….hydration always needed on this bleached barnet! I am interested to try this out as it sounds great and hopefully it will sway me back to this brand.
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
Paula’s Choice I know simply from anytime I google a product review it will usually come up with some form of review…..usually quite bad reviews from what I remember! Either way Paula (is it Paula or a bunch of reviewers?!) has launched her/their/his own skincare range and I am really looking forward to trying it. I love a liquid exfoliant (hello Alpha-H Liquid Gold) and this one is Salicylic Acid-based which is one of the best acids to treat an oily/breakout skin.
Benefit PoreFessional License To Blot
A brand we all know and love….and a frequent participant in the Birchboxes as I will see something from Benefit in my box every few months. Not complaining as I love the brand. This is relatively new and I haven’t actually tried it so glad to receive this minature to give a whirl. It is an oil-blotting stick that mattifies shine on the skin. Sounds like something I will like!
This is a tangle-teaser-esque plastic brush made by Birchbox. I actually never suffer from knots or tangles as my hair is just super fine and flyaway but I do like using a plastic brush though my wet hair before I style. This is a great shape for holding in the palm of your hand as it just sits so perfectly within and is really comfortable to hold. Will probably chuck this in my gym bag.
